[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 고성군이 KTX고성역세권개발사업에 대한 청사진을 공개했다.
군은 24일 고성읍행정복지센터에서 지역 주민과 관계자 등이 참석한 가운데 KTX고성역세권개발사업 주민설명회를 개최했다.
이번 설명회는 지난해 8월 국토교통부의 ‘투자선도지구 공모사업 선정’으로 행정적 동력을 확보한 고성역세권 개발의 구체적인 추진 상황과 향후 로드맵을 군민들과 공유하기 위해 마련됐다.
설명회에서는 △남부내륙철도 건설사업 추진현황 △역세권개발사업 추진계획 △주요 시설 및 기대효과 등이 상세히 다뤄졌다.
특히 KT고성역을 중심으로 교통인프라와 스포츠산업이 융합된 자족형 복합도시 조성안이 제시되어 참석한 주민들로부터 큰 호응을 얻었다.
고성군은 고성역세권을 단순한 철도 이용을 넘어, 남부내륙철도와 연계한 교통 거점이자 신산업의 요충지로 육성한다는 전략이다.
사업이 완료되면 관련 산업 인프라 확충을 통해 양질의 일자리가 창출되고 인구 유입이 촉진되면서 지방소멸위기를 극복하고 고성이 재도약할 수 있는 성장동력이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
군 관계자는 “고성역세권개발사업은 우리군의 미래 성장 가능성을 공식적으로 인정받은 뜻깊은 사업”이라며 “개발의 성과가 군민 한분 한분 삶에 실질적인 변화로 이어질 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
고성군은 이번 설명회에서 제시된 주민들의 의견을 적극 검토해 향후 개발계획 수립에 반영할 예정이다.
