충청남도가 국토교통부가 추진한 ‘자율차 시범운행지구 서비스 지원사업’ 공모에 선정되면서 내포신도시를 중심으로 자율주행 기반 야간 교통서비스를 확대한다.
도는 25일 이번 선정으로 국비 1억5000만 원을 확보했으며, 이를 토대로 심야 시간대 이동 수요에 대응하는 자율주행 셔틀버스를 추가 투입할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 기존 자율주행 서비스 운영 성과와 주민 체감도를 종합 평가해 대중교통 취약 구간을 보완하는 지역을 우선 지원하는 것이 특징이다. 국토교통부는 전국 8개 지구를 선정해 사업 규모와 운영계획에 따라 재정을 지원한다.
