대한민국 국방·안보 인재 양성의 요람인 국방대학교가 2026학년도 학위과정의 힘찬 시작을 알렸다.
국방대학교는 25일 논산 캠퍼스 컨벤션센터 대강당에서 김영호 국방대 총장 직무대행 주관으로 2026년도 학위과정 입학식을 개최했다.
이날 행사는 윤봉규 국방관리대학원장을 비롯한 교직원과 재해생, 입학생 가족들이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다. 이번에 입학한 인원은 석·박사 과정 총 266명으로, 육·해·공군 및 해병대 장교와 부사관은 물론 공무원, 군무원, 일반인까지 다양한 분야의 인재들이 포함됐다.
특히 우즈베키스탄의 엘도르 육군 중령을 포함한 4명의 외국군 장교가 입학해 국방대의 국제적 위상을 보여주며 눈길을 끌었다.

김영호 총장 직무대행은 환영사에서 국방대가 국방·안보 분야에서 최고의 전통을 자랑하는 명문 교육기관임을 강조했다.
그는 입학생들에게 그동안 야전과 각자의 일터에서 나라를 지키기 위해 헌신해온 노고를 격려하며, 이제는 학업에 정진해 전문 역량을 갖춤으로써 미래 대한민국의 국방을 이끌어갈 핵심 인재로 거듭나 줄 것을 당부했다.
입학생들은 앞으로 전공과 과정에 따라 안보정책 및 전략학, 국방관리, 국방과학 등 전문 분야에서 심도 있는 교육을 받게 된다. 교육 기간은 주간 석사 2년, 야간 석사 2.5년이며 박사 과정은 3년, 주말 박사 과정은 3.5년으로 운영된다.
한편, 1979년 석사과정으로 시작한 국방대 국방관리대학원은 2002년 야간석사, 2008년 박사과정을 차례로 개설하며 외연을 확장해 왔다.
특히 2015년부터는 일반인에게도 문호를 개방해 교육 기회를 넓혔으며, 현재까지 약 7천 명의 졸업생을 배출하는 등 명실상부한 대한민국 국방·안보 인재 배출의 메카로 자리 잡고 있다.
