박범계 국회의원(더불어민주당·4선)이 대전과 충남의 통합을 대한민국 새로운 성장의 핵심 동력으로 제시하며 본격적인 행보에 나섰다.
박 의원은 26일 오전 천안아산역 인근 신불당아트센터에서 청년 창업가 및 지역 기업인 50여 명과 함께 자신의 저서 '박범계의 더큰통합 압도적성장' 출간을 앞둔 간담회를 개최했다.
간담회에서 박 의원은 대전·충남 통합의 당위성을 국가 경영 차원에서 역설했다.
박 의원은 “대전·충남 통합은 단순한 지역 사업이 아니라 이재명 정부의 성공을 위해 선택해야 할 필수 조건”이라며, “수도권 일극 체제로는 더 이상의 성장을 기대하기 어려운 만큼, 지방 주도의 성장이 반드시 필요하다”고 강조했다.
특히 영남이나 호남권 통합과는 차별화된 대전·충남만의 강점을 내세웠다. 대전의 R&D 역량과 충남의 탄탄한 산업 기반을 결합한 ‘충청판 실리콘밸리’ 구상을 통해, 수도권에 집중된 자원이 지역으로 내려와 선순환하는 구조를 만들어야 한다는 취지다.
박 의원은 천안아산역 인근을 지식산업과 창업의 핵심 거점으로 평가하며, “통합을 통해 창출된 성과가 다시 수도권으로 유출되지 않고 지역에 온전히 뿌리 내리게 해야 한다”고 덧붙였다.
박 의원은 앞으로의 10년을 통합과 성장을 위한 ‘골든타임’으로 규정했다. 그는 “설령 당장 통합이 성사되지 않더라도, 미래를 위한 설계와 준비는 멈춰서는 안 된다”며 “누가 단체장이 되더라도 통합은 우리 지역의 가장 중요한 과제가 되어야 한다”고 목소리를 높였다.
또한 통합의 결실이 특정 지역에 쏠리지 않고 충남 내 낙후 지역까지 고르게 확산되어야 한다는 점을 분명히 했다. 그는 “대전·충남이 대한민국 압도적 성장의 심장이 될 수 있다”며 지방이 주도하는 새로운 미래에 대한 자신감을 내비쳤다.
한편, 박범계 의원은 오는 28일(토) 오후 2시 30분 공주대학교 천안캠퍼스 체육관에서 저서 '박범계의 더큰통합 압도적성장'의 출판기념회를 열고 대중과의 만남을 이어갈 예정이다.
