대전광역시교육청이 지역 전략 산업인 바이오헬스 분야의 맞춤형 인재를 양성하기 위한 '제2기 협약형 특성화고' 운영의 닻을 올렸다.
대전시교육청은 3월 3일 오후 대전생활과학고등학교 청람홀에서 2026학년도 신입생 입학식을 개최하고, 지자체와 기업, 대학이 합심하는 지역 인재 육성 컨소시엄의 본격적인 출발을 알렸다.
이번 입학식은 지난 2025년 교육부로부터 협약형 특성화고로 최종 선정된 대전생활과학고가 준비 과정을 마치고 2031년까지 5년간 이어질 대규모 인재 양성 프로젝트의 시작을 기념하기 위해 마련됐다.
현장에는 설동호 대전광역시교육감을 비롯해 대전시 행정부시장, 대덕구청장, 대전테크노파크 원장 등 정관계 인사는 물론, 충남대학교 관계자와 (주)알테오젠, 엔솔바이오사이언스 등 지역 바이오 핵심 기업 대표들이 대거 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 교육부 직업교육정책과 관계자들도 참석해 바이오헬스 특성화 교육의 첫걸음에 힘을 보탰다.
행사는 재학생들의 역동적인 치어리딩 축하 공연으로 문을 열었으며 입학 허가 선언과 입학생 선서가 이어졌다.
특히 본격적인 운영 체제 전환을 상징하는 '협약형 특성화고 교기 전달식'과 신입생들에게 '전용 점퍼 및 배지'를 수여하는 세리머니가 진행되어, 지역 산업의 미래 주역이 될 학생들의 자긍심을 고취하고 새로운 시작을 격려하는 시간을 가졌다.
올해 입학한 162명의 신입생은 바이오제약과, 바이오의료전기과, 바이오플랜트과, 바이오푸드과, 바이오코스메틱과 등 바이오 산업 전반을 아우르는 5개 학과에 배치됐다. 이들은 앞으로 5년간 지역 전략 산업을 이끌 전문 지식과 실무 역량을 집중적으로 쌓게 된다.
협약형 특성화고는 지자체, 교육청, 기업, 학교가 긴밀한 협약을 맺고 지역 산업 현장에 즉시 투입 가능한 맞춤형 인재를 키워내는 혁신적인 고교 체제다.
대전 지역에서는 앞서 제1기로 선정된 충남기계공업고등학교가 방위산업 분야에서 운영 2년 차를 맞이해 순항 중이다. 이번에 바이오헬스 분야로 합류한 대전생활과학고는 대전광역시, (주)알테오젠, 충남대학교, 대전테크노파크 등과 강력한 컨소시엄을 구성해 지역 경제의 신성장 동력을 뒷받침할 예정이다.
김영진 시교육청 과학직업정보과장은 대전생활과학고가 협약형 특성화고로서 본격적인 운영을 시작함에 따라 학교가 지역 산업계의 든든한 파트너로 자리매김하게 될 것이라고 평가했다.
