【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군이 외국인 주민의 행정 접근성 개선을 위해 무인민원발급기 다국어 서비스를 본격 시행한다.
군은 지역 내 무인민원발급기에 외국어 UI(사용자 인터페이스) 지원 프로그램 설치를 완료하고 영어·중국어·일본어·베트남어·태국어 등 5개 국어 서비스를 제공한다고 밝혔다.
이번 조치는 외국인 주민이 각종 민원서류를 보다 쉽고 정확하게 발급받을 수 있도록 시스템을 개선한 것으로, 지역 내 외국인 근로자와 다문화가정 증가에 따른 행정 수요에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 추진됐다.
올해 2월 말 기준 증평군의 등록 외국인은 1465명으로 집계됐다.
외국어 서비스가 적용된 무인민원발급기는 △증평군청 △증평군립도서관 △증평읍사무소 △도안면사무소 등 총 5대다.
군은 이번 시스템 도입으로 외국인 주민이 시간과 장소에 구애받지 않고 민원서류를 발급받을 수 있는 환경이 조성됐다고 설명했다.
군 관계자는 “무인민원발급기 외국어 서비스 지원을 통해 외국인 주민들도 시간과 장소에 구애받지 않고 필요한 서류를 손쉽게 발급받을 수 있게 됐다”며 “앞으로도 외국인 주민이 불편 없이 행정서비스를 이용할 수 있도록 체감형 행정 구현과 민원환경 개선에 지속적으로 힘쓰겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 군은 앞서 지방세 체납안내문을 외국어로 제작·발송하는 등 외국인 주민의 행정 이해도를 높이기 위한 정책을 단계적으로 확대해오고 있다.
