대전시당 소속 선출직 의원과 당원들은 4일 오전 대전시청 북문 앞에서 ‘대전·충남 통합 결의대회’를 열고, 국민의힘의 이중잣대와 자치단체장들의 정략적 행보를 강력히 규탄하는 성명서를 발표했다.
참가자들은 성명서를 통해 지방소멸의 위기 앞에서도 대전·충남 통합법 처리를 외면하는 국민의힘의 행태를 ‘망국적 작태’로 규정했다.
특히 대구·경북(TK) 통합법 처리를 위해서는 필리버스터 중단까지 호소하는 국민의힘이, 정작 내용상 ‘쌍둥이 법안’인 대전·충남 통합법 앞에서는 어깃장을 놓고 있다며 노골적인 지역 차별이라고 직격했다.
이들은 "지역 통합을 진정한 지방 시대의 개막이 아니라 선거 승리를 위한 정략적 계산으로만 여기는 무능한 정당이 어떻게 국가 균형 발전을 책임질 수 있느냐"며 국민의힘을 향해 통합을 즉각 당론으로 확정할 것을 요구했다.
이날 성명의 화살은 이장우 대전시장과 김태흠 충남지사에게도 향했다. 참가자들은 지난해 대통령 주재 간담회에서 통합의 선구자를 자처하며 ‘전광석화 같은 추진’을 약속했던 이장우 시장이, 막상 특별법 처리가 현실화되자 ‘차별법’, ‘빈 껍데기’ 운운하며 안면몰수하고 있다고 비판했다.

특히 정부 지원 근거가 부족하다는 이 시장의 주장에 대해 "지방선거 유불리라는 주판알을 튕기며 충청의 미래를 스스로 걷어차는 치졸한 몽니"라고 날을 세웠다.
이어 20조 원 규모의 지원은 충청의 산업, 교통, 일자리를 바꿀 거대한 마중물임에도 불구하고 단체장들의 정치적 욕심 때문에 충청만 멈춰 서게 됐다고 개탄했다.
비분강개의 심정으로 삭발에 나선 참가자들은 대전 시민과 충남 도민을 기만하는 정치세력에 맞서 무기한 연좌농성에 돌입한다고 밝혔다. 이들은 결의문을 통해 두 가지 핵심 요구사항을 전달했다.
