세종시에서 소방본부를 사칭한 사기범들이 숙박업소를 대상으로 공문을 위조해 소방시설 구매를 강요하는 수법이 등장했다.
세종소방본부에 따르면 지난 4일 전의면 숙박업소 2곳에 '법령 개정에 따른 자동소화장치 의무 설치'라는 가짜 공문이 발송됐으나, 업주들의 확인으로 피해는 면했다.
사기범들은 최근 소방관계법령 개정을 가장해 '긴급 소방점검 대상'이라며 업주들의 불안심리를 자극했다.
전화·문자 메시지로 공문을 보내 특정 소방용품 구매를 유도하는 전형적인 수법이다. 세종소방본부는 이를 악용한 사기 시도가 전국적으로 확산 추세임을 경고했다.
세종소방본부는 관내 숙박업소 47곳과 소방안전관리자에게 사기 수법 안내 문자와 공지를 발송하고, 누리집(sejong.go.kr/fire.do)에 주의 공지문을 게시하며 피해 예방에 총력을 기울이고 있다.
세종소방본부 관계자는 "소방공무원은 현장에서 과태료 징수나 특정 제품 구매·설치를 절대 강요하지 않는다"며 "의심 시 직접 소방서 확인"을 당부했다.

Scammers impersonating the Sejong Fire Department have emerged in Sejong City, targeting accommodations and businesses with forged official documents to pressure them into purchasing fire equipment.
