국립금오공과대학교(총장 김상호)는 ICT융합특성화연구센터 소속 연구팀이 ‘제8회 ICAIIC 2026(International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Information and Communication)’에서 ‘우수논문상(Excellent Paper Award)’을 수상했다고 밝혔다.
ICAIIC는 인공지능(AI)과 정보통신(ICT) 융합 분야의 최신 연구 성과를 공유하는 국제학술대회로, IEEE(전기전자공학자협회), IEICE(전자정보통신학회), KICS(한국통신학회)가 공동 개최했다. 올해 학회는 지난 2월 24일부터 27일까지 일본 도쿄과학대학 가구라자카 캠퍼스에서 열렸다.
수상 논문은 ‘PredBlock: An AI–Blockchain Framework for Real-Time Integrity Management in CCS Pipelines( CCS 파이프라인의 실시간 무결성 관리를 위한 AI-블록체인 프레임워크)’으로, 탄소중립 핵심 기술인 탄소 포집·저장(CCS) 과정에서 이산화탄소를 수송하는 파이프라인의 안전 문제 해결 방안을 제시한 연구다.
연구팀은 AI 기반 분석을 통해 누출, 부식, 과압 등 위험 요소를 실시간으로 탐지하고, 블록체인을 활용해 운영 데이터를 위·변조가 불가능한 형태로 기록하는 통합 프레임워크를 제안했다. 이를 통해 파이프라인의 안전성과 운영 효율성을 동시에 높일 수 있는 기술적 가능성을 제시했다는 평가를 받았다.
이번 연구는 국립금오공대 ICT융합특성화연구센터 김동성 센터장을 비롯해 Ihunanya Udodiri Ajakwe, Victor Ikenna Kanu, Simeon Okechukwu Ajakwe 연구원이 공동으로 수행했다.
김동성 센터장은 “이번 연구는 AI 기반 선제적 안전 관리와 블록체인을 통한 투명한 데이터 관리 체계를 하나의 프레임워크로 통합했다는 점에서 의미가 있다”며 “향후 CCS 파이프라인뿐 아니라 다양한 에너지 인프라의 신뢰성과 안전성을 높이는 데 기여할 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
한편 국립금오공대 ICT융합특성화연구센터는 과학기술정보통신부와 정보통신기획평가원(IITP)이 추진하는 ‘지역지능화혁신인재양성사업’과 ‘대학ICT연구센터사업’ 등을 통해 민군 ICT 융합기술과 AI 기반 특화 연구를 수행하고 있으며, 관련 연구 성과를 국내외 학술대회에서 꾸준히 발표하며 학문적 성과를 이어가고 있다.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT) (President Sang-ho Kim) announced that a research team from the ICT Convergence Specialization Research Center won the 'Excellent Paper Award' at the '8th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Information and Communication (ICAIIC 2026).'
ICAAIIC is an international academic conference that shares the latest research findings in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology (ICT). It is co-hosted by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Institute of Electronics and Information and Communication Engineering (IEICE), and the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS). This year's conference was held from February 24 to 27 at the Kagurazaka Campus of Tokyo University of Science in Japan.
The award-winning paper, "PredBlock: An AI–Blockchain Framework for Real-Time Integrity Management in CCS Pipelines," presents a solution to safety issues in pipelines transporting carbon dioxide during the carbon capture and storage (CCS) process, a key technology for achieving carbon neutrality.
The research team proposed an integrated framework that uses AI-based analysis to detect risks such as leaks, corrosion, and overpressure in real time and utilizes blockchain to record operational data in a tamper-proof manner. This approach was recognized as demonstrating the technological potential to simultaneously enhance pipeline safety and operational efficiency.
This research was jointly conducted by Kim Dong-seong, Director of the ICT Convergence Specialization Research Center at Kumoh National Institute of Technology, and researchers Ihunanya Udodiri Ajakwe, Victor Ikenna Kanu, and Simeon Okechukwu Ajakwe.
Director Kim Dong-seong stated, "This research is significant in that it integrates AI-based preemptive safety management and a transparent data management system via blockchain into a single framework. We anticipate that it will contribute to enhancing the reliability and safety of not only CCS pipelines but also various energy infrastructures in the future."
Meanwhile, the Kumoh National Institute of Technology's ICT Convergence Specialization Research Center is conducting specialized research on civilian-military ICT convergence technologies and AI through projects such as the "Regional Intelligence Innovation Talent Development Project" and the "University ICT Research Center Project," both promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information and Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP). The center continues to present its research findings at domestic and international academic conferences, contributing to its academic success.
