지역 대학이 협력해 창업교육을 공동으로 운영하는 모델이 구축되면서 지역 기반 창업 인재 양성의 새로운 사례가 될 것으로 기대된다.
계명대학교는 2026학년도 1학기부터 대구광역시 도심캠퍼스 2호관에서 ‘대구창업학’ 교과목을 개설·운영한다고 밝혔다.
이번 교과목은 계명대가 주관을 맡고 경북대학교, 계명문화대학교, 대구공업대학교, 대구과학대학교, 대구보건대학교, 수성대학교, 영남이공대학교, 영진전문대학교 등 대구 지역 8개 대학이 공동 참여하는 RISE 참여대학 연합 공통 창업교과다.
이에 따라 대구지역 대학생이라면 소속 대학과 관계없이 학점교류를 통해 해당 교과목을 수강할 수 있으며, 지역 단위 창업교육을 공동으로 운영하는 제도적 플랫폼도 함께 구축된다.
‘대구창업학’은 단순한 창업 입문 강의를 넘어 지역 기반 창업교육을 목표로 설계된 실전형 교과목이다. 수업은 대구의 역사·문화·경제 구조를 이해하는 과정에서 출발해 지역 산업 기반 위에서 창업 기회를 탐색하도록 구성됐다.
강의는 ▲대구 5대 신산업 및 핵심 자원 탐색 ▲창업의 개념과 유형 이해 ▲대구 창업 생태계 구조 분석 등 이론 교육으로 시작된다. 이어 창업지원기관 투어와 지역 창업지원기관 이해 과정을 통해 학생들이 정책·보육·투자·사업화 시스템을 현장에서 직접 확인할 수 있도록 운영된다.
수업 중반 이후에는 ▲대구 관광자원 및 문화콘텐츠 산업 분석 ▲지역 기업의 시장 구조 및 경쟁 환경 분석을 바탕으로 대구 특화 창업 아이디어를 발굴하는 실습이 진행된다. 이어 ▲기업 현장 투어 ▲사업계획서 작성 실습 ▲창업 자금 조달 전략 수립 ▲네트워킹 데이 운영 등이 이어지며, 학기 말에는 창업 프로젝트 발표와 평가를 통해 교육이 마무리된다.
강사진 역시 현장 중심으로 구성된다. 대학 교수진과 함께 지역 산업 혁신기관 실무자와 창업 전문가들이 강의에 참여해 산업 현장의 실제 과제와 기업 성장 전략, 정책 및 투자 연계 구조를 실무 관점에서 전달할 예정이다.
이번 과정은 정부의 ‘모두의 창업 프로젝트’ 정책 방향을 대학 교육 체계 안에서 구현한 사례로 평가된다. 국가 정책이 방향을 제시하고 지역 대학이 교육으로 실행하며 산업 현장이 참여하는 구조가 형성됐다는 점에서 의미가 있다는 분석이다.
특히 대구광역시 도심캠퍼스 2호관을 거점으로 운영된다는 점에서 창업교육이 기존 대학 캠퍼스를 넘어 도심과 산업 현장으로 확장되는 상징적 의미도 갖는다.
신일희 계명대학교 총장은 “이번 ‘대구창업학’은 한 대학의 시도가 아닌 대구 지역 대학이 공동으로 설계한 창업교육 연합 모델”이라며 “대학 간 경쟁을 넘어 협력으로 전환한 사례이자 RISE가 지향하는 지역혁신 방향을 교육 현장에서 구현한 모델”이라고 밝혔다. 이어 “대학과 지역이 함께 성장하는 창업 생태계를 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.

Keimyung University announced that it will launch and operate "Daegu Entrepreneurship Studies" at Building 2 of its Daegu Metropolitan City Downtown Campus starting in the first semester of the 2026 academic year.
This course is hosted by Keimyung University and is a joint entrepreneurship course for eight universities in the Daegu area: Kyungpook National University, Keimyung Culture University, Daegu Institute of Technology, Daegu Science University, Daegu Health Science University, Suseong University, Yeungnam University of Science and Technology, and Yeungjin College.
Accordingly, any university student in the Daegu area can take the course through credit transfer, regardless of their university affiliation. An institutional platform for jointly operating regional entrepreneurship education will also be established.
"Daegu Entrepreneurship Studies" is a practical course designed to provide regionally-based entrepreneurship education beyond a simple introductory course. The course begins with an understanding of Daegu's history, culture, and economic structure, and then explores entrepreneurship opportunities based on the local industry.
The course begins with theoretical instruction, including: ▲ Exploring Daegu's five new industries and core resources ▲ Understanding the concepts and types of entrepreneurship ▲ Analyzing the structure of the Daegu entrepreneurship ecosystem. This is followed by a tour of startup support organizations and a course on understanding local startup support organizations, allowing students to directly observe the policy, incubation, investment, and commercialization systems.
After the second half of the course, students will engage in practical training to develop Daegu-specific entrepreneurial ideas based on ▲ Analysis of Daegu's tourism resources and cultural content industries ▲ Analysis of the market structure and competitive environment for local businesses. This program will then include a company site tour, hands-on business plan writing, startup financing strategy development, and a networking day. The program concludes with a startup project presentation and evaluation at the end of the semester.
The instructors are also focused on the field. Along with university faculty, practitioners from local industrial innovation organizations and entrepreneurship experts will participate in the lectures to provide practical insights into real-world challenges, corporate growth strategies, and policy and investment linkages from a practical perspective.
This program is recognized as an example of implementing the government's "Everyone's Startup Project" policy within the university education system. This program is significant in that it establishes a structure where national policy sets the direction, local universities implement the program through education, and industry participates.
Based on Building 2 of the Daegu Metropolitan City Campus, it symbolically expands entrepreneurship education beyond the traditional university campus to encompass the city center and industrial sites.
Keimyung University President Shin Il-hee stated, "This 'Daegu Entrepreneurship Program' is not an initiative of a single university, but rather a collaborative entrepreneurship education model designed by universities in the Daegu region." He added, "It is a case of transitioning from competition to collaboration among universities, and a model that embodies RISE's vision of regional innovation in the educational field."
