【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=국민의힘 경북도지사 선거에 출마한 이강덕 예비후보가 6일 공천 신청을 마친 직후 포항과 경북 서남부 지역을 잇달아 방문하며 본격적인 세몰이에 나섰다.
이 예비후보는 지난 이날 국민의힘 중앙당 공천 신청을 완료한 뒤 같은 날 포항을 시작으로 7일 구미, 8일 성주와 칠곡을 방문해 지역 주민과 직접 만나며 현장 행보를 이어갔다.
6일 포항에서는 대구·경북지역 취재본부장협회와의 간담회에서 경북의 미래 비전과 주요 현안에 대한 견해를 밝히며 “행정 통합 논의보다 양질의 일자리 창출이 우선”이라고 강조했다.
이 후보는 “지역에서 통합이나 분리를 논의하는 근본적인 이유 역시 결국 일자리 문제”라며 “젊은 층이 선호하는 지속 가능하고 경쟁력 있는 일자리를 만드는 것이 도정의 최우선 과제”라고 밝혔다.
대구·경북 행정 통합 논의와 관련해서는 무조건적인 행정구역 합병보다는 권역별 강소도시 육성을 통한 발전 전략이 필요하다는 입장을 내놨다.
그는 “서울·인천·부천·광명처럼 각 도시가 경쟁력을 유지하면서도 광역 교통망으로 연결돼 상생하는 구조가 현실적인 모델”이라며 “포항과 경주 등 경북 주요 도시를 교통망으로 촘촘히 연결하면 행정 통합 없이도 자연스러운 통합 효과를 낼 수 있다”고 설명했다.
또 “도민의 충분한 공감과 동의 없이 추진되는 정책은 바람직하지 않다”며 “2019년부터 이어진 통합 논의 역시 충분한 연구와 제도적 보완이 필요하다”고 신중한 접근을 주문했다.
주말 동안 이어진 현장 행보에서는 지역 민생과 농업 현안을 집중적으로 점검했다. 8일에는 성주 별고을체육공원에서 열린 ‘성주참외 전국마라톤대회’ 현장을 찾아 참외 농가 관계자들과 만나 기후 변화와 소비 감소 등 농업 현장의 어려움을 청취했다.
이 자리에서 그는 “성주 참외는 대한민국을 대표하는 수출 농산물이자 지역 경제의 핵심 산업”이라며 “유통 환경 변화에 대응하고 농가 부담을 줄이기 위해 판로 확대와 소비 촉진에 행정 역량을 집중하겠다”고 말했다.
이어 칠곡으로 이동해 협회장기 축구대회와 가산면·북삼청년협의회 윷놀이대회 등 주민 행사에 참석하며 지역민들과 밀착 소통을 이어갔다.
앞서 7일에는 구미를 방문해 주민자치위원회 신년교례회와 협회장기 배드민턴대회, 선산시장 등을 찾아 민심을 살폈다. 또 파크골프장과 문화예술회관을 방문해 생활체육과 문화 인프라 확충에 대한 시민 의견을 청취했다.
이 예비후보는 오프라인 현장 일정과 함께 유튜브 채널 ‘이강덕TV’ 라이브 방송을 통해 도민들과 실시간으로 소통하는 등 온·오프라인을 병행한 선거 행보도 이어가고 있다.
정치권에서는 이 예비후보의 주말 일정이 공천 심사를 앞두고 경북의 핵심 지역인 서남부권에서 지지 기반을 다지기 위한 전략적 행보로 보고 있다.
이 예비후보 측 관계자는 “공천 신청을 계기로 더욱 낮은 자세로 도민들의 삶의 현장을 찾아갈 계획”이라며 “행정 경험을 바탕으로 지역의 고질적인 문제를 해결할 현실적인 대안을 제시하는 데 집중하겠다”고 말했다.

He visited the Gumi City Residents' Autonomous Committee's New Year's Ceremony, the Association President's Cup Badminton Tournament, and Seonsan Market to gauge public sentiment. He also visited popular park golf courses and cultural centers, sharing his opinions on expanding recreational sports and cultural infrastructure.
Furthermore, he attracted attention for his multifaceted campaign, combining online and offline channels, engaging residents in real-time through live YouTube broadcasts of "Lee Kang-deok TV."
Political circles are interpreting this preliminary candidate's weekend schedule as a strategic move to solidify support in the southwestern region, a key stronghold of Gyeongbuk, ahead of the primary screening process.
