국민의힘 대전시당(위원장 이은권)이 제9회 전국동시지방선거를 앞두고 진행한 기초단체장 공천 신청 접수가 8일자로 마무리됐다. 이에 따라 지역별 공천 경쟁 구도가 서서히 윤곽을 드러내고 있다.
대전시당은 지난 3월 1일부터 4일까지 공고 기간을 거쳐, 5일부터 8일까지 광역·기초단체장 후보 접수를 진행했다. 이어 광역의원은 10일까지, 기초의원은 11일까지 신청을 받는다.
대전 5개 구청장 선거에 총 10명이 공천을 신청한 것으로 나타났다.
구별 신청자는 동구 2명, 중구 4명, 서구 2명, 유성구 1명, 대덕구 1명이다. 일부 선거구에서는 다수 인사가 도전장을 내면서 치열한 경쟁이 예상된다.
자치구별 신청자는 동구청장은 박희조 현 동구청장과 한현택 전 동구청장이 신청했고, 중구청장에는 김경훈 전 대전시의회 의장, 김선광 전 대전시의원, 김연수 전 대전 중구의회 의장, 이동한 전 중구청장 권한 대행 등 4명이 신청을 했고, 서구청장에는 서철모 현 청장과 김현오 잔 서구 자치행정국장, 유성구청장에는 조원휘 대전시의회 의장이 단독 신청을 하고, 대덕구청장에는 최충규 현 구청장이 단독 신청한 것으로 나타났다.
공천 절차는 단순한 서류 접수를 넘어 본격적인 검증 단계로 들어간다.
대전시당 공천관리위원회는 △당선 가능성 △지역발전 기여도와 전문성 △당 정체성 부합 여부 △도덕성 △유권자 신뢰도 △당 기여도 등을 종합적으로 평가할 예정이다. 또한 면접심사를 통해 후보자의 경쟁력과 리더십을 면밀히 점검한다는 방침이다.
이은권 공천관리위원장은 “공정하고 투명한 심사를 통해 대전의 미래를 이끌 수 있는 유능한 인물을 발탁하겠다”며 “시민이 신뢰할 수 있는 경쟁력 있는 후보를 선출하기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
