<브레이크뉴스 태백 = 김일웅 기자> 118주년을 맞은 세계 여성의 날을 기념해 강원도 태백시에서 시민들과 함께 성평등의 진정한 의미를 되새기는 뜻깊은 연대의 장이 펼쳐졌다.
태백가정폭력·성폭력 통합상담소는 지난 6일 태백 황지연못 일원에서 '지금, 여기, 함께 만드는 성평등'을 핵심 슬로건으로 내건 '3·8 세계 여성의 날 기념식'을 성황리에 마무리했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 지역 사회 곳곳에 단단하게 뿌리내려야 할 성평등 문화를 확산하고, 여성 권익 증진에 대한 시민들의 공감대를 한층 끌어올리기 위해 기획됐다. 현장에는 태백시를 비롯해 여성단체협의회, 인권네트워크, 정신건강복지센터, 가족센터 등 지역 유관기관 관계자와 시민 100여 명이 한데 모여 뜨거운 열기를 더했다.
기념식은 1908년 미국 여성 노동자들의 투쟁에서 비롯된 여성의 날 유래를 짚어보는 것으로 포문을 열었다. 이어 성평등 사회 구현을 향한 간절한 목소리를 담은 '3·8 여성선언문 낭독'과 '2026년 태백인권네트워크 주요 활동 계획' 청사진 발표가 차례로 이어지며 결의를 다졌다.
특히 이날 시민들의 발길을 사로잡은 것은 여성의 날을 상징하는 '빵(생존권)'과 '장미(참정권)'를 직관적으로 풀어낸 체험 부스였다. 빵 모양의 앙증맞은 수세미와 붉은 장미꽃을 시민들과 나누며, 다소 무거울 수 있는 역사적 의미를 친근하고 따뜻한 시선으로 전달해 큰 호응을 이끌어냈다.
