브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 현대백화점이 가정과 학교에서 생활 속 친환경 실천에 앞장선 전국 초·중·고등학교에 공기정화식물을 전달했다.
현대백화점은 정부의 탄소중립 생활 실천 챌린지 프로그램인 ‘기후행동 1.5℃ 스쿨챌린지’에 참여, 초등학교 부문 대상을 수상한 대구광역시 칠성초등학교를 비롯해 실천 실적이 우수한 전국 13개 학교에 공기정화식물 258그루를 전달했다고 10일 밝혔다.
이번에 전달된 공기정화 식물은 미세먼지 제거 효과가 크고 관리하기 쉬운 뱅갈나무, 녹보수, 스킨답서스, 테이블야자, 스파트필름 등 다섯 종류다.
‘기후행동 1.5℃ 스쿨챌린지’는 기후에너지환경부와 교육부가 탄소중립 실천 문화 확산을 위해 미래세대와 교육기관을 대상으로 2020년부터 진행하고 있는 기후행동 실천 프로그램이다.
일회용품 사용하지 않기, 재질별로 분리배출하기 등 기후행동 1.5℃ 앱이 제안하는 친환경 활동에 적극적으로 참여해 실천 실적이 우수한 학교·학생·교사를 학기별로 선정해 포상하고 있다.
앞서 현대백화점은 자체적으로 2019년부터 미래 세대의 건강과 쾌적한 학습 환경을 위해 초등학교에 공기정화식물을 전달하는 ‘교실 숲 조성 사업’을 진행해 왔다. 2021년부터는 정부의 ‘기후행동 1.5℃ 스쿨챌린지’ 프로그램 취지에 공감해 공기정화식물을 후원하는 방식으로 지원사업을 이어오고 있다.
현대백화점은 이번 지원까지 포함해 전국 60개 학교에 총 8266그루의 공기정화식물을 지원했다.
양명성 현대백화점 영업전략담당 상무는 “학생들이 보다 나은 환경에서 꿈을 키우고 환경에 대한 중요성도 자연스럽게 경험할 수 있도록 관계 부처와 협력해 지원 사업을 운영해오고 있다”며 “미래세대와 함께 지속가능한 탄소중립 실천 문화를 확산하고 생활 속에서 쉽게 체감할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램을 책임감 있게 이어갈 계획이다”고 말했다.
