구미시는 11일부터 13일까지 코엑스에서 열리는 인터배터리 2026에 참가해 국내외 배터리·소재·부품 기업을 대상으로 투자유치 홍보 활동을 펼친다고 밝혔다.
인터배터리는 산업통상자원부가 주최하고 한국배터리산업협회가 주관하는 국내 최대 규모의 배터리 산업 전문 전시회다. 최신 배터리 기술과 소재, 부품, 장비, 에너지저장 솔루션 등 배터리 산업 전반을 아우르는 글로벌 비즈니스 플랫폼으로 자리 잡았다. 올해 전시회에는 전 세계 700여 개 기업이 참가하고 약 7만5천 명 이상의 참관객이 방문할 것으로 예상된다.
구미시는 행사 기간 특별 홍보부스를 운영해 지역 산업 인프라와 투자 지원 정책을 집중적으로 소개할 계획이다. 부스를 찾는 참관객을 대상으로 현장 이벤트를 진행하는 한편, 전시회 참가 기업을 직접 찾아가는 투자 상담도 병행해 실질적인 투자 협력 기회를 발굴한다. 특히 배터리 소재와 장비 기업을 중심으로 맞춤형 투자 상담을 진행하며 기업 네트워크 확대에 주력할 방침이다.
구미시는 이차전지 산업 생태계 조성에도 속도를 내고 있다. 이차전지 육성 거점센터 설립을 추진하고 있으며, BaaS 시험검증센터 구축과 첨단화 지원 기반 마련 등 산업 지원 인프라를 단계적으로 확충하고 있다. 이를 통해 글로벌 전기차 수요 정체(캐즘)와 공급 과잉, 중국 기업과의 경쟁 심화 등으로 어려움을 겪는 국내 배터리 산업에 새로운 성장 동력을 마련한다는 구상이다.
실제로 구미에는 피엔티, 미래첨단소재, 톱텍, 디에프에스, 지오에이 등 이차전지 제조 및 소재 분야 기업들의 투자가 이어지며 지역 산업 생태계가 확장되고 있다.
김장호 구미시장은 “구미는 첨단 제조 기반과 풍부한 산업 인력, 안정적인 공급망을 갖춘 도시로 이차전지 기업이 투자하고 성장하기에 최적의 환경을 갖추고 있다”며 “국내외 산업 전시회와 네트워크를 적극 활용해 구미의 투자 매력을 알리고, 투자 상담이 실제 투자로 이어질 수 있도록 행정적·재정적 지원을 강화하겠다”고 말했다.
