브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= LG유플러스는 CDP(탄소정보공개프로젝트)평가에서 국내 통신사 중 유일하게 ‘탄소경영 아너스 클럽’을 수상했다고 10일 밝혔다.
전세계 최대 규모의 환경정보공개 관련 글로벌 평가인 CDP(Carbon Disclosure Project, 탄소정보공개프로젝트)는 세계 2만4000여 개 기업의 기후변화 대응 노력과 온실가스 배출량 정보·감축 성과 등 환경경영 정보를 수집해, 거버넌스·리스크·관리 등 다양한 기준에 따라 기업을 평가하고 있다.
이중 ‘탄소경영 아너스 클럽’은 국내 상위 5개 기업에게만 수여되는 상으로 LG유플러스는 2년 연속 수상하고, 지난해에 이어 최고 등급인 ‘리더십 A’를 획득한 바 있다.
LG유플러스는 SBTi(Science Based Targets Initiative, 과학기반감축목표) 승인 획득과 연결기준 온실가스 배출량 산정 및 검증 등을 통한 온실가스 감축 목표에 대한 신뢰도 확보가 수상에 주효했다고 설명했다.
또한, 2년 연속 한국회계기준원(KSSB) 기후 관련 공시보고서를 발간해 기후변화에 대한 재무적 영향을 분석하고, LG유플러스만의 차별화된 대응 전략으로 높은 평가를 받았다.
향후 LG유플러스는 전력 사용량 절감 및 재생에너지 중장기 전략 수립 등을 통해 온실가스 배출량 감축을 지속적으로 추진할 예정이다.
