【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구기계부품연구원(DMI)은 10일 연구원 글로벌홀에서 '2026년도 DMI 기업지원사업 통합설명회'를 개최하고 지역 산업 육성과 기업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 지원 전략을 제시했다.

이번 설명회에서는 모빌리티, 로봇·AI, 정밀가공, 뿌리산업 등 다양한 분야에 적용되는 총 1,000억 원 규모의 AX(인공지능 전환) 기술지원 사업이 소개됐다. 행사에는 지역 기업 관계자들이 참석해 제조 현장에서의 AI 적용 가능성과 AX 전환에 따른 공정 효율화 방안 등에 높은 관심을 보였다.
특히 기존 설비와의 호환성 문제, 데이터 표준화 구축 비용 등 기업들이 현장에서 겪는 현실적인 애로사항에 대한 질의와 논의가 이어졌으며, DMI의 맞춤형 기술 지원 체계에 대한 문의도 잇따랐다.
2001년 설립된 DMI는 약 25년간 중소기업 밀착형 실용화 연구개발을 수행해 온 지역 대표 연구기관이다. 현재 지역 주도형 AI 대전환 사업과 AI 공정혁신 시뮬레이션 센터 구축 사업 등을 추진하고 있으며, 대구광역시와 협력해 지역 거점 AX 혁신기술개발사업과 국가첨단전략산업 관련 사업을 기획하는 등 지역 제조산업의 AI 혁신 생태계 구축에 힘쓰고 있다.
송규호 원장은 “DMI는 지역 제조산업의 디지털 전환과 AX 혁신을 이끄는 핵심 거점기관으로서 산업 구조 전환을 선도하는 중추적 역할을 수행하고 있다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 기업지원사업을 발굴해 지역 기업들이 보다 높은 수준의 AX 전환을 이룰 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
