더불어민주당 대전광역시당 공천관리위원회(위원장 원용철)가 제9회 전국동시지방선거를 앞두고 공직선거 후보자 공모를 마감한 결과, 총 106명의 후보자가 출사표를 던지며 본격적인 선거 정국에 돌입했다.
지난 5일부터 9일까지 진행된 이번 공모에는 기초단체장 21명을 비롯해 광역의원 34명, 기초의원 44명, 비례대표 후보자 7명 등 지역 발전을 견인할 인재들이 대거 몰렸다.
특히 대전의 행정 최일선을 책임질 기초단체장(구청장) 선거에는 21명이 접수를 마쳐 뜨거운 경선 열기를 예고했다.
구별로는 서구청장 후보군에 무려 8명이 몰려 가장 높은 경쟁률을 기록하며 최대 격전지로 떠올랐다. 이어 동구와 중구에 각각 4명, 대덕구 3명, 유성구 2명 순으로 공천 신청이 접수됐다.
각 구별 후보군에는 전·현직 구청장과 시의원 출신 등 중량감 있는 인사들이 대거 포진해 있어, 본선행 티켓을 거머쥐기 위한 당내 경선이 그 어느 때보다 치열할 전망이다.
민주당 대전시당은 이번 공모 결과를 토대로 엄격한 ‘시스템 공천’ 원칙을 적용할 방침이다.
