청와대가 10일 "이재명 대통령이 11일 존 드라마니 마하마 가나 대통령과 정상회담을 갖고 상호 협력 강화 방안을 논의한다"고 전했다.
강유정 대변인은 이날 오후 서면 브리핑을 통해 "마하마 대통령이 11~14일까지 실무 방한해 11일 오후 청와대에서 이 대통령과 정상회담을 갖고 협정·MOU(양해각서) 서명식 등 일정을 진행한다"고 밝혔다.
마하마 대통령 방한은 이 대통령 취임 후 아프리카 정상의 첫 방문인 가운데 지난 2024년 한·아프리카 정상회의 이후 약 2년 만이다.
가나는 지난 1977년 한국과 수교 이후 약 50년간 우호 관계를 유지해 온 가운데 지난 2021년 출범한 아프리카대륙자유무역지대(AfCFTA) 사무국이 위치한 서아프리카 무역·물류 중심국이다.
양 정상은 이번 회담에서 교역·투자 확대와 해양 안보·재외국민 보호·국방·방산 협력·기후변화 대응·교육·문화 교류 등 분야에서 실질 협력 강화 방안을 논의한다.
