충남도가 급변하는 기후 변화와 어촌 인구 감소 위기에 대응하기 위해 도민과 전문가들의 지혜를 모아 '미래 해양수산 육성'을 위한 청사진 그리기에 나섰다.
이를 위해 충남도는 11일 도청 소회의실에서 정책자문위원들과 함께 2026년 첫 해양수산분과 회의를 열고, 충남 바다의 경쟁력을 높일 핵심 현안을 집중 논의했다.
이번 회의에서 정책자문위원들은 어촌 소멸이라는 거대한 흐름에 맞서기 위해 수산업의 과감한 체질 개선이 시급하다고 입을 모았다.
특히 정보통신기술(ICT)을 접목한 수산업 시설의 스마트화와 현대화, 수산식품의 고부가가치 창출을 통해 어민들의 실질적인 소득을 높여야 한다는 제언이 쏟아졌다.
또한 청년과 귀어인이 안정적으로 지역에 정착할 수 있도록 정주 여건을 개선하고 기반 시설을 조성하는 일에 행정력을 집중해야 한다고 강조했다.
회의에서는 충남의 미래 먹거리가 될 대규모 프로젝트들에 대한 구체적인 조언도 이어졌다.
가로림만 국가해양생태공원의 성공적인 조성과 세계자연유산 등재 추진, 촘촘한 해양쓰레기 관리망 구축 등 생태·환경이 논의됐다.
항만·안전을 위해서는 당진항과 대산항을 서해안권 거점 항만으로 육성하기 위한 인프라 확충과 기습적인 연안 재해로부터 도민을 보호할 예방 체계 구축 방안이 비중 있게 다뤄졌다.
자문위원들은 이러한 신산업 주도권을 확보하기 위해 지금부터 치밀한 논리를 개발하여 2027년 정부 예산 확보전에 전방위적으로 대응해야 한다고 조언했다.
충남도는 이번 자문회의에서 나온 전문가들의 의견을 올해 추진하는 핵심 과제에 즉각 반영하여 정책을 구체화할 방침이다. 특히 도와 시·군이 연계된 사업들이 현장에서 겉돌지 않고 어민들이 체감할 수 있는 성과로 이어지도록 관리 감독을 강화할 계획이다.
