제9회 전국동시지방선거를 향한 국민의힘 대전광역시당의 시계가 빠르게 돌아가고 있다.
국민의힘 대전시당 공천관리위원회(위원장 이은권)는 10일 광역의원 후보자 24명의 공천 신청 접수를 마무리하고, 본격적인 후보 검증 체제에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.
앞서 국민의힘은 지난 3월 1일부터 공고를 시작해 분야별로 접수를 진행해 왔다. 시장·구청장 등 기초단체장 접수는 지난 8일 이미 마쳤으며, 이번 광역의원 접수 마감에 이어 11일 기초의원 접수까지 완료되면 지방선거에 나설 전체 예비후보군 윤곽이 드러나게 된다.
이번 공천 과정의 핵심 키워드는 ‘객관적 역량 검증’이다.
공관위는 단순한 정치적 경력이나 지역 내 인지도에 의존하던 과거 방식에서 벗어나, 서류 심사와 면접은 물론 국민의힘만의 공직후보자 역량 평가 시스템인 PPAT(People Power Aptitude Test)를 통해 후보자들의 실력을 정밀하게 측정할 계획이다.
PPAT는 후보자가 공직자로서 갖춰야 할 정책 이해도와 문제 해결 능력, 법규 지식 등을 객관적으로 평가하는 시험이다. 국민의힘은 이 시험을 통해 지역 발전을 이끌 실무 역량을 갖췄는지 엄격히 따져 묻겠다는 구상이다.
이은권 공천관리위원장은 “이번 공천의 제1원칙은 시민의 눈높이에 부합하는 공정성과 객관성”이라며 “PPAT와 심도 있는 면접을 통해 정책적 식견과 지역 비전을 두루 갖춘 경쟁력 있는 후보를 가려내겠다”고 강조했다.
국민의힘 대전시당은 11일 기초의원 접수를 끝으로 모든 신청 절차를 마무리한 뒤, 순차적으로 면접과 역량 평가를 실시해 최종 후보자를 확정할 예정이다.
