대전광역시교육청이 신학기를 맞이한 학생들의 안전한 교육 환경을 조성하기 위해 지역 유관기관과 손을 잡고 대대적인 통학로 점검과 캠페인에 나섰다.
대전교육청은 11일 오전 대전대흥초등학교 인근에서 교육지원청, 대전시청, 중구청, 대전지방경찰청 및 안전문화실천대전협의회 관계자들과 함께 합동 통학로 안전 점검을 실시했다.
이번 점검은 단순히 현장을 둘러보는 것에 그치지 않고, 학생들의 등하교 동선을 직접 도보로 이동하며 위험 요소를 살피는 방식으로 진행됐다.
참여자들은 특히 학교 인근 공사장의 안전 펜스 설치 상태와 통학로 사각지대를 집중적으로 확인했다. 또한 학교 앞 문구점 등을 방문해 어린이 식품 위생과 안전 관리 상태를 점검하는 등 학교 주변 환경 전반을 꼼꼼히 훑었다.
현장 점검에 이어 학교 정문 앞에서는 시민들을 대상으로 ‘아이 먼저’ 어린이 안전문화 캠페인이 전개됐다.
캠페인 참여자들은 등교하는 학생과 운전자들을 향해 횡단보도 앞 일시정지 준수 ,보행 중 스마트폰 사용 금지 등 필수 교통안전 수칙을 홍보하며 안전한 보행 환경 조성에 동참해 줄 것을 호소했다.
교통안전뿐만 아니라 아동 범죄 예방을 위한 세심한 지도도 잊지 않았다. 학생들에게는 ‘낯선 사람을 절대 따라가지 않기’ 등 유괴 예방 수칙을 알기 쉽게 전달하며 스스로를 보호할 수 있는 안전 의식을 심어주었다.
대전시교육청 관계자는 “신학기는 학생들의 이동이 잦아지는 시기인 만큼 지역사회 모두의 관심과 주의가 필요하다”며 “앞으로도 유관기관과 긴밀히 협력해 우리 아이들이 마음 놓고 등교할 수 있는 안전한 통학로를 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
