서울시 강남구 청담동 명품거리를 걷다가 루이비통, 샤넬, 반클리프, 구찌, 프라다의 쇼윈도를 기웃거리며 대로 중간쯤의 한 건물로 들어섰다. 엘리베이터에서 내려 잠시 멈칫했다. 외계 우주선 입구 같은 공간에 들어선 순간 동선을 잃었기 때문이다. 사방이 막힌 듯한 공간. SF 영화의 한 장면 같은 그곳에서 벽이 열리며 그녀가 나타났다. 벽을 가르고 등장한 여자. (주)디프네의 최수아 대표였다. 놀랐다. 많이. 그래도 “좀 놀랐네요”라고만 말했다. 그녀가 뽀얗게 웃었다.

갑자기 튀어나온 ‘BTS’라는 말에 "BTS" 는 이름만 들어도 다르다는 생각이 들었다. 정면에서 마주한 최수아 대표의 단아한 얼굴에는 우아한 지배력이 배어있다. 목 아래 깊게 드러난 쇄골의 반듯한 모양새는 빈틈없는 자세로 살아온 사람에게서만 보이는 선이었다. 자신의 정체성에 대한 질문을 하자 그녀는 감성적인 대답을 했다.
“‘저는 무용수입니다’라고 말할 때가 제일 자랑스러웠어요. 그때 가장 나 답다고 느꼈거든요.”
여덟 살부터 무용을 시작했다. 예고와 예술대학에서 한국무용을 전공하고 발레를 부전공했다. 졸업 후 무용단 활동을 하다 결혼하고 아이를 낳으면서 비즈니스의 필요를 느꼈다. 그렇게 청담동에 ‘디프네(Deep Energy)’를 열었다. 사람들은 그녀를 ‘청담동 E.T’ 혹은 ‘청담동 5볼트’라 부른다.
