오는 6월 3일 실시하는 지방선거를 앞두고 더불어민주당이 국민의힘 출신 민경배 대전시의원(무소속·중구3)의 복당을 최종 승인하면서, 대전 중구를 넘어 지역 정가가 거센 후폭풍에 휩싸였다.
특히 당원들 사이에서는 대전시당과 중앙당이 자신들이 정한 원칙을 스스로 뒤집는 ‘자기부정’을 저질렀다는 비판이 쏟아지고 있다.
민 의원에 대해 지난 10일 대전시당 당원자격심사위원회의 복당 승인에 이어 중앙당의 최종 결정 소식이 전해지자, 중구 지역 당원들은 “벌집을 쑤셔놓은 듯하다”며 격렬한 반응을 보이고 있다.
2022년 국민의힘 공천으로 당선된 현역 의원이 임기 중 당적을 옮겨 다시 민주당 후보로 출마하려는 행보에 대해, 민주당 대전시당과 중앙당이 ‘레드카펫’을 깔아준 격이기 때문이다.
20년 넘게 당비를 내며 헌신해 온 열성 당원들은 “당원을 우습게 보는 행태”라며 허탈감을 감추지 못하고 있다.
특히 한 열성 당원 A씨는 SNS를 통해 “대전 지역 7명의 국회의원과 절연하겠다”고 선언하며, 이번 사태를 묵인하거나 주도한 시당 수뇌부를 정면으로 겨냥했다.
