세종특별자치시의회 미래전략수도완성특별위원회가 12일 제8차 회의를 열고 활동결과 보고서를 채택하며 공식 활동을 종료했다.
특위는 2023년 2월 출범 이후 세종시가 행정중심복합도시를 넘어 국가 미래전략수도로 도약할 수 있는 기반 마련을 목표로 운영돼 왔다.
출범 초기 특위는 국회세종의사당 건립, 대통령 세종집무실 설치 등 행정수도 완성과 관련된 폭넓은 의제를 다뤘다.
이후 행정수도 관련 별도 특위가 구성되면서 특위는 역할을 재조정하고, 세종시의 미래 경쟁력을 좌우할 5대 핵심 과제로 활동 방향을 전환했다.
특위가 중점 추진한 5대 과제는 중입자가속기 암치료센터 유치, KTX 세종역 신설, 충청권 광역급행철도(CTX) 조기 추진, 세종~청주 고속도로 조기 개통, 국가산업단지 조성이다.
특위는 8차례 회의와 현장방문, 결의안 채택 등을 통해 각 사업의 추진 상황을 점검하고 집행부에 개선 방향을 제시해 왔다.
특위는 CTX 민자적격성조사 통과 과정에서 적극적인 의정활동을 펼쳤고, 세종터미널역 등 주요 거점 정류장 설치를 촉구하는 결의안을 본회의에서 통과시켰다.
활동결과 보고서에는 CTX 후속 절차 철저 이행을 포함한 5대 과제별 향후 과제가 정책 제언 형태로 담겼다.
김동빈 위원장은 5대 과제가 세종시 미래 경쟁력을 좌우하는 핵심 사안이라며 특위 종료 이후에도 상임위원회 차원의 지속적인 점검과 정책 제언, 예산 심의가 필요하다고 강조했다.
