충청남도교육청이 입국 초기 이주배경학생들의 안정적인 국내 학교 적응을 돕기 위해 설립한 ‘충남다우리학교’가 역사적인 첫 입교식을 가졌다.
충남도 교육청은 12일 아산 신창중학교 시청각실에서 학생, 학부모, 교직원 등이 참석한 가운데 충남 최초의 초·중 통합 공립형 대안학교인 ‘충남다우리학교’의 시작을 알리는 입교식을 거행했다고 밝혔다.
최근 충남 지역 내 이주배경학생이 급격히 증가함에 따라, 이들이 겪는 언어 장벽과 문화적 차이, 학습 공백 문제는 교육계의 시급한 과제로 떠올랐다. 충남다우리학교는 이러한 문제를 근본적으로 해결하기 위해 탄생한 특성화 대안학교다.
이곳에서는 입국 초기 학생들을 대상으로 단순히 한국어(KSL)를 가르치는 것에 그치지 않고, 원적 학교로 복귀했을 때 무리 없이 수업을 따라갈 수 있도록 돕는 통합 교육과정을 운영한다.
주요 프로그램으로는 교과 연계 집중 한국어 교육 ,기초학력 증진 프로그램 ,한국 문화 이해 및 체험 ,심리 상담 및 정서 지원 등이 포함되어 있다.
입교식 현장은 새로운 시작에 대한 설렘으로 가득했다. 한국어 소통이 서툴러 학교 생활에 두려움을 느꼈던 학생들은 맞춤형 교육 환경에 큰 기대감을 나타냈다.
이날 입교한 한 학생은 "처음 한국에 왔을 때 말이 통하지 않아 수업 시간마다 막막하고 걱정이 컸다"며 "이곳에서 한국어를 열심히 배워 원적 학교로 돌아가면 친구들에게 먼저 말을 걸고 수업 시간에도 자신 있게 발표하고 싶다"고 소감을 전했다.
김지철 충남교육감은 축사를 통해 충남다우리학교가 가진 교육적 가치를 강조했다.
김 교육감은 "충남다우리학교는 낯선 환경에 놓인 이주배경학생들에게 한국 생활의 올바른 방향을 제시하는 '나침반' 역할을 할 것"이라며 "학생들이 우리 사회의 건강한 구성원으로 성장할 수 있는 든든한 토대가 되길 바란다"고 말했다.

The Chungnam Dauri School, established by the Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Office of Education to help students with immigrant backgrounds adapt to Korean schools upon their arrival, held its historic inaugural ceremony.
The Chungnam Provincial Office of Education announced that on the 12th, an inauguration ceremony was held in the audiovisual room of Asan Sinchang Middle School, attended by students, parents, and faculty. The ceremony marked the opening of "Chungnam Dauri School," the first integrated public elementary and middle school alternative school in Chungcheongnam-do.
With the recent rapid increase in the number of students with immigrant backgrounds in the Chungcheongnam-do region, language barriers, cultural differences, and learning gaps faced by these students have emerged as urgent issues for the education community. The Chungnam Dauri School is a specialized alternative school established to fundamentally address these issues.
This school not only provides Korean language (KSL) instruction to students upon their arrival in Korea, but also offers an integrated curriculum to help them seamlessly navigate classes upon returning to their original schools.
Key programs include intensive Korean language instruction linked to curriculum, programs to enhance basic academic skills, understanding and experiencing Korean culture, and psychological counseling and emotional support.
The inauguration ceremony was filled with excitement for a new beginning. Students who had previously felt apprehensive about school life due to their limited Korean communication skills expressed great anticipation for the customized educational environment.
One student who entered the school that day said, "When I first came to Korea, I felt lost and anxious during class because I couldn't communicate. I want to diligently learn Korean here so that when I return to my original school, I can be the first to talk to my friends and confidently present in class."
Chungnam Province Superintendent of Education Kim Ji-cheol emphasized the educational value of Chungnam Dauri School in his congratulatory address.
Superintendent Kim said, "Chungnam Dauri School will serve as a 'compass' that provides the right direction for life in Korea to students of immigrant backgrounds who are placed in an unfamiliar environment," and added, "I hope that it will become a solid foundation for students to grow into healthy members of our society."
