원성수 세종특별자치시 교육감 예비후보가 지난 10여 년간 정체된 세종 교육의 틀을 깨고, 행정수도와 AI 시대에 걸맞은 ‘세종다운 교육’을 실현하겠다는 비전을 선포했다.
원 예비후보는 12일 비전제시를 통해 "수준 높은 세종 시민들은 이제 지난 10년과는 확연히 다른 교육을 원하고 있다"며, "국립대학교 총장을 역임하며 쌓은 행정 경험과 전문성을 바탕으로 세종시의 위상과 시민들의 열망에 부응하는 교육 혁신을 이뤄내겠다"고 강조했다.
원 예비후보는 현재 세종 교육의 가장 큰 문제점으로 '하향 평준화'와 '획일성'을 꼽았다. 그는 "대외 경쟁력을 잃은 공교육으로 인해 학생들의 다양한 재능을 키우는 데 한계가 발생했고, 이는 곧 학교 현장의 무기력으로 이어졌다"고 진단했다.
