13일 태백시에 따르면, 전날 신 교육감은 태백교육지원청을 방문해 새롭게 둥지를 튼 교직원 관사를 점검하고, (구)화전초등학교 공공임대주택 건립 예정지를 직접 살피며 힘을 실었다.
신 교육감의 첫 행선지인 하장성 교직원 관사는 지상 4층, 총 48세대(가족형 20세대·독신형 28세대) 규모의 알짜배기 보금자리다. 열악한 주거 환경을 개선하기 위해 최근 준공을 마치고 입주를 시작했으며, 태백시는 이를 마중물 삼아 상주 인구 유입과 지역경제 활성화의 두 마리 토끼를 잡겠다는 복안이다.
