경산시는 하천과 계곡이 시민들이 많이 이용하는 공공 공간임에도 불구하고 주변 불법 시설물이 오랜 기간 관행적으로 설치되면서 반복적으로 발생하고 있어 체계적인 관리와 정비가 필요하다는 판단에 따라 이번 조사를 추진한다고 밝혔다.
조사 기간은 3월 1일부터 31일까지로 하천·계곡 주변에 설치된 불법 시설물을 대상으로 진행된다. 특히 하천구역 인근 사각지대에 있는 시설물까지 포함해 전반적인 실태를 확인할 계획이다.
경산시 맑은물사업본부는 TF팀을 구성해 관련 부서와 읍·면·동이 협력하는 방식으로 사전 조사와 현장 순찰을 실시하고 있다. 불법 행위에 대해서는 사전 단속과 자진 철거를 유도해 시민 불편을 최소화하고 안전 확보에 힘쓴다는 방침이다.
조현일 경산시장은 “이번 전수 재조사를 통해 하천·계곡의 불법 시설물로 인한 시민 불편과 안전사고를 예방하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”며 “앞으로도 시민들이 안전하고 쾌적하게 이용할 수 있는 하천 환경을 조성해 살기 좋은 도시 환경을 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.
한편 경산시는 2025년 하천·계곡 구역 내 불법 점용시설 정비 중앙평가에서 우수기관으로 선정돼 특별교부세 1억 원을 확보했다. 시는 이 재원을 활용해 정비구역 사후관리 강화와 불법행위 예방 인프라 구축, 하천 환경 개선 사업 확대 등을 추진할 계획이다.
