3월 27일 2026 기획공연 ‘명곡 시리즈’ 첫 무대 개최
마에스트라 여자경·공주시충남교향악단 협연… 5월엔 리처드 용재 오닐 무대 예정

낭만주의 음악의 정수를 만끽할 수 있는 격조 높은 클래식 성찬이 공주에서 펼쳐진다.
(재)공주문화관광재단은 오는 3월 27일 오후 7시 30분, 공주문예회관 대공연장에서 2026 기획공연 ‘명곡 시리즈’의 포문을 여는 <백건우 & 브람스> 공연을 개최한다고 밝혔다.
지난해 차이콥스키 시리즈로 클래식 팬들의 뜨거운 호응을 얻었던 공주문예회관이 올해는 요하네스 브람스를 선택했다. 이번 공연의 하이라이트는 단연 세계적인 피아니스트 백건우와 브람스의 만남이다.
1부에서 선보일 '피아노 협주곡 제2번'은 브람스가 22년이라는 장구한 고뇌 끝에 완성한 필생의 역작이다. 일반적인 협주곡 형식을 탈피해 4악장으로 구성된 이 곡은 '피아노가 포함된 교향곡'이라 불릴 만큼 압도적인 규모를 자랑한다.
특히 3악장에서 첼로의 애절한 선율과 교감하는 백건우 특유의 깊이 있는 타건은, 브람스 내면에 흐르는 고독과 낭만적 서정성을 극치로 끌어올리며 관객들에게 묵직한 울림을 선사할 전망이다.
2부에서는 마에스트라 여자경의 지휘 아래 공주시충남교향악단이 브람스 예술 세계의 정점으로 꼽히는 '교향곡 제4번'을 연주한다.
이 작품은 인생의 황혼기에서 느낀 체념과 고독, 그리고 이를 숭고하게 승화시키려는 의지가 담긴 명곡이다. 여자경 지휘자의 독보적인 카리스마와 공주시충남교향악단의 긴밀한 호흡은 고전적 형식미 속에 감춰진 짙은 우수와 4악장의 폭발적인 에너지를 드라마틱하게 재현해낼 것으로 기대된다.
공주문예회관은 이번 공연의 감동을 5월에도 이어간다. 오는 5월 29일에는 세계적인 비올리스트 리처드 용재 오닐이 '명곡 시리즈'의 두 번째 주자로 나선다.
리처드 용재 오닐은 월튼의 비올라 협주곡과 라흐마니노프 교향곡 제2번을 통해 시리즈의 대미를 화려하게 장식할 예정이다.

A sophisticated classical feast where one can fully savor the essence of Romantic music will unfold in Gongju.
The Gongju Culture & Tourism Foundation announced that it will host the <Kun-Woo Paik & Brahms> performance, which opens the 2026 Planned Performance ‘Masterpiece Series,’ at the Grand Performance Hall of the Gongju Arts Center on March 27 at 7:30 PM.
Having garnered an enthusiastic response from classical music fans with last year’s Tchaikovsky series, the Gongju Arts Center has selected Johannes Brahms for this year. The highlight of this performance is undoubtedly the meeting of world-renowned pianist Kun-Woo Paik and Brahms.
The 'Piano Concerto No. 2,' to be presented in the first half, is a lifelong masterpiece completed by Brahms after 22 years of prolonged agony. Breaking away from the conventional concerto form, this piece consists of four movements and boasts an overwhelming scale, earning it the title of a "symphony with piano."
In particular, Paik’s signature deep touch, harmonizing with the cello’s poignant melody in the third movement, is expected to deliver a profound resonance to the audience by elevating the solitude and romantic lyricism flowing within Brahms to their peak.
In the second half, the Chungnam Symphony Orchestra will perform 'Symphony No. 4,' considered the pinnacle of Brahms’s artistic world, under the direction of Maestro Yeo Ja-kyung.
