대전 도시철도의 중심인 대전역 지하 공간이 첨단 농업기술을 품은 초록빛 농장으로 탈바꿈했다. 대전교통공사는 13일 대전역 지하 1층 유휴 부지를 활용해 조성한 도심형 스마트팜 ‘대전팜(이엔후레쉬)’의 개장식을 열고 본격적인 운영에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.
이번에 문을 연 ‘대전팜’은 도시철도 역사 내 방치되었던 공실을 스마트농업 모델로 재탄생시킨 사례로, 시민들이 도심 한복판에서 첨단 농업기술을 직접 목격하고 체험할 수 있는 복합 체험 공간으로 기획됐다.
이번 사업은 대전시의 스마트농업 확산 정책에 따라 민간의 창의적 아이디어를 반영하는 ‘자유제안 공모형’ 방식으로 추진됐으며, 스마트팜 전문 기업인 이엔후레쉬가 향후 5년간 운영을 맡아 기술적 완성도를 높일 예정이다.
약 199㎡ 규모로 조성된 대전팜 내부에는 정보통신기술(ICT)을 기반으로 온도와 습도, 조명 등을 실시간으로 자동 제어하는 최첨단 수직농장 시스템이 구축됐다.

이곳에서는 쪽파와 부추, 허브류, 엽채류는 물론 갈색 양송이버섯 등 다양한 작물이 재배된다. 아울러 시민들이 도심 속 정취를 느낄 수 있도록 화훼 작물을 활용한 체험 프로그램 공간도 함께 마련됐다.
특히 대전팜은 유동 인구가 많은 역사 내에 위치한 지리적 이점을 살려, 시민들이 일상 속에서 스마트농업을 자연스럽게 접하는 ‘도심형 농업 플랫폼’ 역할을 수행할 것으로 기대된다.
대전교통공사는 향후 시민 대상의 교육 및 치유형 농업 콘텐츠를 단계적으로 확대하고, 장애인 기관과 협력한 체험 프로그램을 운영하는 등 지역사회와 상생하는 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 경영 가치를 실현해 나갈 방침이다.
이날 열린 개장식에는 대전시와 대전일자리경제진흥원, 한국건설기술연구원, 충남농업기술원 및 장애인 단체 관계자 등 20여 명이 참석해 현판 증정식과 시설 투어를 진행하며 대전팜의 첫 출발을 축하했다.
박필우 대전교통공사 기술이사는 “이번 대전팜 조성은 도시철도의 유휴공간을 시민들에게 새로운 경험과 가치를 제공하는 공간으로 되돌려주었다는 점에서 의미가 깊다”며 “앞으로도 도시철도 역사를 단순히 지나가는 통로가 아닌, 시민들이 직접 체감하고 즐길 수 있는 문화·체험형 복합공간으로 지속적으로 확장해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
