오는 6월 지방선거를 앞두고 실시된 천안시장 선거 여론조사 결과, 더불어민주당은 다수의 후보가 오차범위 내에서 치열한 경합을 벌이고 있는 반면, 국민의힘은 박찬우 전 국회의원이 오차범위 밖에서 여유 있게 앞서 나가는 것으로 나타났다.
이번 조사는 '뉴스티앤티, 충남뉴스TV, 브레이크뉴스' 공동 의뢰로 여론조사 전문기관 (주)데일리리서치가 지난 3월 6일부터 7일까지 이틀간 천안시 거주 만 18세 이상 남녀 700명을 대상으로 실시했다.
더불어민주당 천안시장 후보 적합도에서는 구본영 전 천안시장(13.4%), 장기수 현 민주당 정책위 부의장(13.2%), 한태선 전 노무현대통령비서실 행정관(13.1%) 등 세 후보가 불과 0.3%p 차이 내에서 ‘안갯속’ 승부를 벌이고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

연령별로는 구본영 후보가 60대(20.1%)와 70세 이상(24.9%)에서 강세를 보인 반면, 40대에서는 최재용(16.7%)과 장기수(15.9%) 후보가, 50대에서는 장기수(17.2%), 한태선(17.1%), 구본영(16.1%) 후보가 팽팽한 접전을 펼치고 있는 것으로 분석됐다.

국민의힘 후보 적합도에서는 박찬우 전 국회의원이 25.4%를 얻어 12.7%를 기록한 황종헌 전 보좌관을 오차범위 밖인 12.7%p 차이로 앞섰다.
다만 전체 응답자의 39.4%가 ‘적합한 인물이 없다’고 답했으며, 40대(50.7%)와 50대(46.5%)에서 부동층 비율이 높게 나타나 중도층 포섭이 향후 과제로 분석된다.
천안시 정당 지지도는 더불어민주당이 56.0%로 과반을 차지했으며, 국민의힘은 23.5%로 조사됐다. 이어 조국혁신당(2.0%), 개혁신당(1.9%), 기타정당(1.5%), 진보당(0.7%) 순이며, 부동층(지지정당 없다, 잘모름)은 14.4%로 집계됐다.
