16일 서구청장 예비후보 등록 완료... "삭발·단식 농성으로 등록 늦어져"

김종천 전 대전광역시의회 의장이 제9회 전국동시지방선거 대전 서구청장 출마를 위한 행정 절차를 마치고 본격적인 선거전에 돌입했다. 김 전 의장은 16일 대전 서구 선거관리위원회를 직접 방문해 예비후보 등록을 완료했다.
김 예비후보는 등록 직후 소회를 밝히며 그간의 행보를 설명했다.
그는 "대전·충남 통합이라는 지역 발전의 결정적 기회가 일부 세력의 반대로 무산되어 가는 위기 상황을 좌시할 수 없었다"며 "삭발과 단식 농성을 이어가며 통합의 당위성을 알리는 사투에 집중하다 보니 예상보다 후보 등록이 다소 늦어졌다"고 밝혔다.
늦어진 일정에도 불구하고 당내 예비후보 자격 검증은 원만하게 마쳤다는 점도 덧붙였다.
이날 김 예비후보는 이번 선거의 성격을 '심판과 통합'으로 규정했다.
그는 "지역의 미래가 걸린 대통합을 가로막은 세력을 이번 지방선거에서 반드시 심판하겠다"고 목소리를 높였다. 이어 "대전과 충남 대통합의 중심지로서 서구가 가져야 할 미래 비전과 발전을 시민들과 함께 손잡고 일궈내 승리하겠다"는 강한 의지를 내비쳤다.
특히 그는 자신의 강점으로 '현장형 경륜'을 내세웠다. 지난 12년간의 의정 활동 기간 동안 서구 관내 곳곳을 발로 뛰며 현안을 파악해 왔음을 강조한 것이다.
