경기북부보훈지청은 제107주년 3·1절을 계기로 정부 포상이 결정된 故 원점본 지사의 외손자 자택을 방문하여 훈장증을 직접 전수했다고 밝혔다.
이번 전수식은 독립을 위해 신명을 바친 선열들의 고귀한 희생을 기리고, 국가를 위해 헌신한 이들의 후손에게 국가의 무한 책임을 다하기 위해 마련되었다.

이번에 대통령표창이 추서된 故 원점본 지사는 1919년 3월 31일, 당시 경기도 양주군(현 남양주시) 진접면 부평리에서 전개된 독립만세운동에 참여했다가 체포되는 등 항일 투쟁에 기여한 공로를 인정받았다.

훈장증을 전달받은 원 지사의 외손자는 “오랜 세월이 흘렀음에도 외조부님의 발자취를 잊지 않고 국가가 직접 찾아와 주어 매우 기쁘고 감격스럽다”며 소회를 밝혔다.
박용주 경기북부보훈지청장은 전수식에서 다음과 같은 메시지를 전했다.
