충남교육감 선거에 출마한 김영춘 예비후보가 계룡시에 독립 교육지원청을 신설하겠다고 약속했다. 충남 15개 시·군 가운데 유일하게 계룡시에만 교육지원청이 없는 만큼, 교육행정의 형평성을 바로잡겠다는 구상이다.
김 후보는 17일 오후 계룡시에서 진행된 ‘충남교육 대전환 주민간담회’에서 “계룡시는 시 승격 20여 년이 지났음에도 여전히 논산계룡교육지원청에 종속된 구조”라며 “지역 맞춤형 교육행정을 위해 계룡교육지원청을 조속히 설치하겠다”고 밝혔다.
그는 현재 운영 중인 계룡교육지원센터가 2021년 개소했지만, 인력과 예산 부족으로 제 기능을 다하지 못하고 있다고 지적했다. 김 후보는 “학교배치나 시설관리 등 기본적인 민원도 제때 해결하지 못하는 상황”이라며 “독립된 행정체계를 통해 교육서비스 접근 격차를 해소해야 한다”고 강조했다.

김 후보는 “군사도시 특성상 문화·체험 기반이 부족한 점도 문제”라며 “충남교육청과 논산시가 공동으로 TF를 구성해 지역별 교육격차를 최소화하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 김영춘 예비후보는 이날 오전 청양군 간담회에서도 노후학교 시설 개선과 학생 안전 확보를 위한 특별교부금 확보, 다문화 학생 지원 확대 등을 공약했다.
그는 “다문화 학생 증가에 대비해 AI를 활용한 맞춤형 교육지원 모델을 만들겠다”며 “학생선수의 전학 불이익 방지와 이중언어 교육, 지역대학 연계 방과후 프로그램 운영을 위한 예산 확보에도 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
