충남 서산시가 2027년 서울 세계청년대회(WYD)를 앞두고 해미국제성지의 순례객 유치를 위한 기반시설 확충에 박차를 가하고 있다.
서산시에 따르면 신필승 부시장이 17일 현장을 방문해 순례방문자센터와 문화교류센터 사업 진행 상황을 점검하며, 국제 청년 교류 활성화 방안을 논의했다.
해미국제성지 순례방문자센터(연면적 1,343.64㎡, 지하1층·지상2층)는 대강당, 회의실, 다국어 안내 공간 등을 갖추고 오는 2026년 8월 개관을 목표로 공사 중이다. 지난해 8월 착공한 지 8개월 만에 공정률 45%를 달성하며 순항하고 있다.
같은 날 웨이크업 국제청소년센터 관계자들과 만난 신 부시장은 청년대회 프로그램 연계와 국제 교류 협력을 강조했다. 문화교류센터(연면적 1,546㎡, 지상2층)도 리트릿 공간과 문화 프로그램 시설로 2027년 6월 준공을 앞두고 설계 단계에 접어들었다.
