[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 국민의힘 지도부의 전격적인 ‘경선 확정’으로 공천 파동을 정면 돌파한 박형준 부산시장이 곧바로 민주당을 향해 파상공세를 퍼부으며 본격적인 선거 정국 주도권 잡기에 나섰다.
박 시장은 공천 파행의 휴유증을 털어내듯 “올바른 결정”이라며 당의 방침을 환영하는 한편, 부산의 미래인 ‘글로벌허브도시 특별법’을 외면한 야당을 향해 분노의 메시지를 쏟아냈다.
“낙동강 전선 기필코 사수”… 경선 확정에 ‘필승’ 의지 피력
박 시장은 17일 국민의힘 공관위의 경선 결정 직후 SNS를 통해 “올바른 방향으로 빠르게 결정해 다행이라 생각한다”며 당 지도부의 결단에 감사를 표했다. 이는 김대식, 김도읍, 김미애, 김희정, 박성훈, 이성권, 이헌승, 정연욱, 조승환 등 부산 의원 9인의 결속과 장동혁 당 대표의 원칙 대응이 만들어낸 결과다.
박 시장은 “공정한 경선, 지지층을 결집시키는 경선을 통해 본선에서 반드시 승리하겠다”며 “낙동강 전선을 기필코 사수하여 부산의 미래와 대한민국의 미래를 지키겠다”는 결연한 의지를 보였다. 공천 파동이라는 ‘찬물’을 뒤집어썼던 지지층을 향해 승리의 확신을 심어주며 내부 결속을 다지는 모습이다.
민주당 향한 ‘분노’의 포문… “부산 차별, 330만 시민이 심판할 것”
공천 리스크를 해소한 박 시장의 시선은 곧바로 국회로 향했다. 국회 행안위 법안심사 1소위가 강원·제주·전북 특별법은 심의하면서도, 정작 부산의 숙원인 ‘부산글로벌허브도시 특별법’을 안건에서 배제하자 박 시장은 민주당을 강도 높게 비판했다.
박 시장은 “민주당은 언제까지 부산을 차별할 것이냐. 며칠 전 공청회는 부산시민을 상대로 한 희망 고문이었느냐”고 되물으며, “입으로는 해양수도를 말하면서 전제가 되는 법안은 철저히 외면하는 앞뒤 다른 모습에 분노하지 않을 수 없다”고 성토했다.
특히 이 법안이 이헌승(국힘)·전재수(민주) 의원이 공동 발의한 초당적 법안임에도 민주당이 외면하고 있다는 점을 꼬집어 “스스로 발의한 법안마저 외면하는 정당에 부산의 미래를 맡길 수 없다”고 일갈했다.
‘내부 파행’ 수습하고 ‘외부 투쟁’으로 전열 재정비
지역 정가에서는 박 시장의 이번 행보를 ‘위기를 기회로 바꾸는 정면돌파’로 평가하고 있다. 공관위의 무리한 시도로 발생한 ‘내상’에 매몰되지 않고, 오히려 부산의 사활이 걸린 정책 현안을 고리로 야당과의 전선을 명확히 함으로써 ‘강력한 시장’ 이미지를 구축하고 있다는 분석이다.
전문가들은 “60%에 육박하는 시정 지지율에도 불구하고 여권 내부의 견제와 야당의 발목잡기라는 이중고를 겪고 있는 상황”이라며 “박 시장이 ‘낙동강 전선 사수’라는 보수 결집 카드를 꺼내 든 것은 경선은 물론 본선까지 겨냥한 고도의 전략적 선택”이라고 진단했다.

박 시장은 “부산의 미래는 정파적 차별이나 타협의 대상이 아니다. 330만 부산시민의 공분을 피할 수 없을 것”이라며 민주당에 엄중히 경고했다. “이 책임을 반드시 묻고, 부산의 길을 끝내 열어내겠다”는 그의 메시지는 공천 논란을 딛고 더 강력해진 리더십으로 부산의 미래를 책임지겠다는 대시민 선언으로 풀이된다.
수치로 증명된 부산의 대도약, 5년 만에 이뤄낸 변화
최근 부산이 경제와 교통 그리고 복지 등 전 분야에서 비약적인 성장을 거듭하며 글로벌 허브 도시로 급부상하고 있다.
가장 눈에 띄는 대목은 압도적인 경제 성장 지표다. 지난해 외국인 관광객 365만명이 부산을 찾았다. 2020년 2,800억 원대에 불과했던 투자 유치 규모는 2025년 기준 8조 원을 돌파하며 무려 28배나 성장했다. 박형준 시장 재임 5년 동안 유치한 총 투자액은 23조 원에 달하며 이는 고스란히 고용 지표의 개선으로 이어졌다. 실제로 부산의 상용근로자 수는 100만 명을 넘어섰고 지난해 고용증가율은 전국 1위를 기록했다.
시민들의 실생활과 직결된 교통과 복지 인프라도 획기적으로 개선됐다. 수영강 휴먼브릿지가 준공된 것에 이어 해운대와 만덕을 잇는 대심도로가 개통되면서 기존 42분이나 소요되던 이동 시간이 11분으로 대폭 단축됐다. 또한 3세에서 5세 사이의 무상보육을 실시하고 월 4만 5천 원으로 대중교통을 이용할 수 있는 정책을 도입해 시민들의 가계 부담을 덜었다.
이러한 성과는 국제적인 지표로도 입증됐다. 부산은 세계 스마트도시 8위이자 아시아 톱2에 올랐으며 아동 삶의 질 전국 1위와 청년 삶 만족도 특광역시 1위를 차지했다. 시민행복지수 역시 특광역시 중 가장 높았으며 세계에서 살기 좋은 도시 아시아 6위에 이름을 올렸다.

Economically, the numbers are striking. The city attracted 3.65 million foreign tourists last year, while investment inflows jumped from 280 billion won in 2020 to over 8 trillion won in 2025—a 28-fold increase. Cumulatively, Park’s administration has drawn about 23 trillion won in new investments, which has directly boosted employment. Busan’s number of regular employees surpassed one million, and its job growth rate ranked first in the nation last year.
Transportation and welfare infrastructure have also seen major upgrades. The completion of the Suyeong River Human Bridge and the opening of the Haeundae–Mandeok deep underground road have dramatically shortened travel times from 42 minutes to just 11. Free childcare for children aged 3 to 5 and a 45,000-won monthly transit pass are easing the financial burden on households.
Busan’s progress is recognized internationally as well. The city ranked eighth among global smart cities and second in Asia, topped national indices in child well-being and youth satisfaction, and achieved the highest citizen happiness index among major Korean cities. It was also named the sixth most livable city in Asia.
