브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 국토교통부는 청년들의 주거비 부담 완화를 위해 월 최대 20만원씩 최장 24개월간 월세를 지원하는 ‘청년월세 지원사업’을 계속사업으로 전환, 오는 30일부터 신규 신청접수를 시작한다고 18일 밝혔다.
그동안 청년월세 지원사업은 한시적으로 추진됐다. 그러나, 월세 상승, 취업난 등 어려운 경제상황에 처한 청년들의 주거비 부담을 완화하기 위해 지난해 국정과제로 선정, 매년 신규 수혜자를 모집하게 됐다.
청년월세 지원사업은 2022년 한시사업으로 시작해 그동안 두 차례(2022, 2024년)에 걸쳐 수혜자를 모집했으며, 총 22만2000명의 청년을 지원했다. 2026년에는 전국에서 6만명의 신규수혜자를 선정할 계획이다.
이번 청년월세 지원사업은 소득·재산 요건을 갖춘 19세에서 34세 사이의 청년 중 부모와 따로 거주하는 무주택자를 대상으로 한다. 2차 사업 때 신설된 청약통장가입 요건은 올해 신규수혜자 모집부터는 삭제됐다.
청년월세 지원사업을 신청하려는 청년들은 오는 30일부터 5월 29일까지 복지로 누리집 또는 거주지 행정복지센터에 방문해 신청할 수 있다. 9월에 선정자를 공지하고 5월분부터 월세를 소급해서 지원한다
