(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 지난 17일 중소벤처기업부로부터 인천벤처투자 주식회사의 벤처투자회사 등록 승인을 받았다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 이번 등록 승인으로 인천시는 지역 산업·창업 정책과 연계한 공공 기반의 전문 벤처투자 기능을 본격적으로 가동하게 됐다.
인천시는 그동안 지역 내 벤처투자 기반을 확충하고 기술력과 성장잠재력을 갖춘 혁신기업에 대한 투자 지원 강화를 위해 인천벤처투자(주) 설립을 추진해 왔다.
인천벤처투자(주)는 인천테크노파크가 100% 출자해 설립한 자회사로, 지역 산업과 기업에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 창업 초기기업을 단순히 보육하거나 지원하는 수준을 넘어 기술력과 사업성, 시장성을 갖춘 지역 혁신기업의 성장 지원에 중점을 둘 계획이다.
특히, 인천벤처투자(주)는 단순한 재무적 투자 기능을 넘어 인천테크노파크의 기업지원·산업육성 기능과 연계해 지역 전략산업 분야 유망기업을 발굴하고 정책 지원과 투자 기능을 결합한 공공형 기업주도형 밴처캐피탈(CVC) 역할도 수행할 예정이다.
이를 통해 기업의 성장 단계에 맞는 맞춤형 투자와 민간투자 연계를 확대하고, 지역 투자 생태계의 선순환 구조를 강화해 나갈 방침이다.
주요 투자 대상은 인천시 전략산업인 반도체, 바이오, 로봇, 미래차, 항공, 인공지능(AI), 신재생에너지 분야의 혁신기업이다.
인천시는 성장 잠재력을 갖춘 유망기업을 발굴해 연구개발 성과의 사업화와 시장 진출을 지원하는 등 전략산업 중심의 투자 지원을 통해 미래 신산업 육성과 지역 산업 경쟁력 강화를 추진할 계획이다.
또한, 제조산업 기반이 발달한 지역 특성을 고려해 기술력을 보유한 지역 제조기업의 혁신과 고도화를 위한 투자 지원도 함께 추진한다.
시제품 제작, 생산설비 확충, 공정 고도화 등 제조 기반 강화에 필요한 투자 지원을 통해 기존 제조산업의 경쟁력을 높이고, 이를 바탕으로 신산업 창출과 산업구조 고도화를 촉진해 나갈 방침이다.
인천벤처투자(주)는 민간 벤처캐피탈과의 협력, 정책자금 및 모펀드 연계, 펀드 조성 참여 등을 통해 지역 혁신기업 중심의 투자 선순환 구조를 구축해 나갈 계획이다.
이를 통해 지역 기업이 외부 자본에 의존하지 않고도 인천 내에서 안정적인 성장 기반을 확보할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
