경기도가 오는 9월부터 11월 초까지 두 달간 비무장지대(DMZ) 일원에서 평화와 생태의 가치를 전 세계에 알리는 종합 축제 ‘2026 DMZ OPEN 페스티벌’을 개최한다.
‘선을 열어 삶을 잇다(Open the Line, Connect the Life)’라는 슬로건 아래 열리는 이번 페스티벌은 분단의 상징인 DMZ의 ‘선’을 열어 일상과 세계를 잇는 평화의 흐름을 만들고자 기획됐다. 특히 올해는 통일부와의 적극적인 협업을 통해 축제의 국제적 위상을 높이고, 단발성 행사가 아닌 2개월간의 집중 개최 방식으로 운영해 방문객들의 체감도와 참여도를 끌어올릴 계획이다.
축제의 서막은 9월 ‘DMZ OPEN 전시’가 연다. DMZ가 품은 생태·평화·역사적 의미를 예술 작품으로 재해석해 그 숨겨진 가치를 새롭게 조명한다. 이어 10월부터는 세계적인 성악가와 클래식 아티스트들이 참여해 화합의 선율을 전하는 ‘국제음악제’, 평화 공존과 공동 번영을 논의하는 ‘에코피스포럼’, DMZ의 자연을 직접 발로 느끼는 ‘평화걷기’가 쉴 틈 없이 이어진다.

경기도는 이번 페스티벌을 직접 추진하며 현재 대행사 입찰 등 본격적인 준비 절차에 착수했다. 구체적인 일정과 프로그램은 향후 공식 누리집을 통해 순차적으로 공개될 예정이다.

Gyeonggi Province will host the “2026 DMZ OPEN Festival,” a comprehensive event to promote the values of peace and ecology to the world, across the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) for two months starting this September and continuing into early November.
Held under the slogan “Open the Line, Connect the Life,” this festival was planned to create a flow of peace that connects daily life with the world by opening the “line” of the DMZ, a symbol of division. In particular, this year, the province plans to elevate the festival’s international standing through active collaboration with the Ministry of Unification and to boost visitor engagement and participation by operating the event as a concentrated two-month program rather than a one-off occasion.
The festival will kick off with the “DMZ OPEN Exhibition” in September. The festival reinterprets the ecological, peaceful, and historical significance of the DMZ through works of art, shedding new light on its hidden value.
