<브레이크뉴스 원주 = 김일웅 기자> 원주시가 시민들이 안심하고 생활할 수 있는 촘촘한 동네 안전망을 구축하기 위해 민·관·경이 하나 된 대규모 합동순찰에 나섰다.

19일 원주시에 따르면, 원주시 자율방범 합동순찰대는 지난 18일 오후 7시 30분 태장2동 주거 밀집 지역과 흥양천변 일대에서 ‘제29회 자율방범 합동순찰’을 대대적으로 전개했다고 밝혔다.

이날 순찰 현장에는 자율방범연합대, 해병대전우회, 특전사동지회, 헌병전우회, 경우회, 지역 자생단체 등 무려 300여 명의 든든한 시민 일꾼들이 태장문화마당에 집결했다. 이들은 인근 주거지역의 후미진 골목과 초·중학교 통학로 등을 구석구석 살피며 치안 취약점과 청소년 유해 요소를 꼼꼼하게 점검했다.

원주시만의 특색 있는 치안 시책인 '자율방범 합동순찰'은 지난 2023년부터 본격 추진됐다. 단순한 순찰을 넘어 자율방범대와 일반 시민, 관계기관이 똘똘 뭉쳐 지역의 안전을 직접 챙기는 성공적인 민·관·경 협력 참여형 방범 체계로 확고히 자리 잡았다는 평가를 받는다.
