[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 제107주년 3·1절 기념 배둔장터 독립만세운동 기념행사가 19일 고성군 회화면 배둔리 3·1운동 창의탑 행사장에서 열렸다.
배둔장터 독립만세운동은 1919년 3월 20일 구만면 국천사장에고성지역의 선비들과 농민들이 모여 독립선언서를 낭독하고 일제의 강압에 항거하며 대규모 만세 시위를 벌인 항일 운동으로 당시 배둔장날인 회화면 배둔시장에서 800여명의 군중이 함께 대한독립 만세를 불렀다.
이날 기념식은 3·1운동창의탑보존위원회의 주관으로 진행됐으며 고성군 내 독립애국지사 유족 및 보훈 단체장, 기관 사회단체장, 학생 등 군민 350여명이 참석해 제107주년을 맞는 3·1절을 기념하며 독립애국지사와 순국선열들의 위업과 독립 만세운동의 숭고한 정신을 되새겼다.
이날 기념식에 이어 참가자들은 창의탑을 출발해 회화면 배둔시장을 지나는 길을 함께 행진하며 107년 전 배둔장터에 울려 퍼진 그 날의 함성을 재현해 참석자들에게 깊은 울림과 감동을 선사했다.
최근호 3·1운동 창의탑 보존회장은 기념사를 통해 “107년전 배둔장터 독립만세운동은 우리 고장 선조들이 보여준 불굴의 의지와 단결력을 상징하는 소중한 역사”며 “이번 행사를 통해 자라나는 미래 세대들이 독립운동의 가치를 올바르게 계승하고 나라 사랑하는 마음을 가지길 바란다”고 전했다.
고성군 관계자는 “107년 국천사장을 시작으로 이곳 배둔장터를가득 메워 외쳤던 뜨거운 함성은 지금도 모두의 가슴속에 살아있는 역사이자 자랑이며 선열들의 희생이 헛되지 않도록 노력하겠다”며 “앞으로도 독립유공자와 보훈 가족에 대한 예우에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 3.1운동창의탑보존위원회가 주관 주최하고 한국문인협회 고성지부가 후원한 ‘제107주년 3.1절 기념 배둔장터 독립만세운동 학생 백일장’이 회화면 소재 배둔양지공원에서 160여명의 학생들이 참가한 가운데 개최됐다.
