또 더불어민주당 김부겸 전 총리의 사례를 들어, “이미 대구에서 일정 지지를 받는 후보가 있는 만큼, 공정한 경선을 거쳐 경쟁력 있는 인물이 선출되어야 한다”고 강조했다.
마지막으로 주 부의장은 공관위에 “사심과 편견을 버리고 본연의 역할에 충실하라”고 밝혔다.
한편 이번 주 부의장의 발언으로 국민의힘 내부의 공천 갈등이 수면 위로 드러나면서, 공관위와 당 지도부, 그리고 지역 정치권 사이에 논란이 이어질 전망이다.
