지난 17일 수성알파시티에 위치한 대구디지털혁신진흥원에서 ‘미래 대구 AX 정책 포럼’이 개최됐다. 이번 포럼은 4회차 행사로 (사)대경ICT산업협회를 비롯해 대경로봇기업진흥협회, 한국IT여성기업인협회 영남지회, 더불어민주당 대구시당 등 산업계·학계·유관기관 관계자 30여 명이 참석했다.
이날 포럼에서는 지난해 예비타당성조사 면제사업으로 확정된 5,510억 원 규모의 ‘지역거점 혁신 AX 연구사업’ 추진 현황을 공유하고 향후 대응 전략을 집중 논의했다.
행사는 수성알파시티를 거점으로 AI 로봇, AI 의료·헬스케어 등 24개 분야 혁신 과제 발표로 시작됐으며, 국가 거점 AX 사업을 지역 성장동력으로 육성하기 위한 다양한 의견이 이어졌다.
허소 더불어민주당 대구시당 위원장은 “대구의 강점을 반영한 현실적인 사업 구상과 정책 지원이 병행돼야 한다”며 “지역 산업 발전과 예산 확보를 위해 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.
포럼을 주관한 최종태 대경ICT산업협회 회장은 “AX 사업은 산업 혁신과 실질적인 비즈니스 모델 창출로 이어져야 한다”며 “산·학·연·정이 함께하는 협력 체계 구축과 정치권의 적극적인 역할이 중요하다”고 강조했다.
공군승 대경로봇기업진흥협회 회장은 “예타사업은 지역 산업의 방향을 결정짓는 중요한 과제”라며 “초기 단계부터 구체적인 목표 설정과 현장 적용 중심의 전략이 필요하다”고 말했다.
김민희 한국IT여성기업인협회 영남지회 회장도 “AI 관련 기업과 지역 산업 간 협력을 통해 대구 경제 성장의 계기로 삼아야 한다”며 지속적인 협력 체계 구축을 주문했다.
이어진 자유토론에서는 지역 주도형 AX 사업 추진을 위해 충분한 예산 확보와 안정적인 컨소시엄 구성, 지역 기업 참여 확대가 필요하다는 데 의견이 모아졌다. 또한 기술 개발뿐 아니라 인력 양성, 자동화 확산, 정책 연계가 유기적으로 이뤄져야 한다는 지적도 제기됐다.
참석자들은 AI·로봇 산업 경쟁력 강화를 위해 산·학·연·정 간 긴밀한 협력과 지속적인 소통이 필요하다는 데 공감했다.
한편 대경ICT산업협회와 대경로봇기업진흥협회, 한국IT여성기업인협회 영남지회는 향후 정책 개발과 공약 제안 등 공동 대응에 나서고, 산업 간 교류와 협업 확대를 추진하기로 했다.

A policy forum was held to explore Daegu’s future industrial strategies, where measures to foster key industries such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics were discussed.
The ‘Future Daegu AX Policy Forum’ took place on the 17th at the Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency located in Suseong Alpha City. As the fourth event of its kind, this forum was attended by approximately 30 representatives from industry, academia, and related organizations, including the Daegu-Gyeongbuk ICT Industry Association, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Robot Enterprise Promotion Association, the Yeongnam Branch of the Korea IT Women Entrepreneurs Association, and the Daegu City Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea.
At the forum, the progress of the 551 billion won ‘Regional Hub Innovation AX Research Project,’ which was confirmed last year as a project exempt from preliminary feasibility studies, was shared, and future response strategies were discussed in detail. The event began with presentations on 24 innovation projects in fields such as AI robotics and AI medical/healthcare, centered around Suseong Alpha City. This was followed by various discussions on fostering the national hub AX project as a regional growth engine.
Heo So, Chairman of the Daegu City Chapter of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, “Realistic project planning and policy support reflecting Daegu’s strengths must go hand in hand,” adding, “I will provide active support for regional industrial development and securing the budget.”
Choi Jong-tae, President of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk ICT Industry Association, who organized the forum, emphasized, “The AX project must lead to industrial innovation and the creation of practical business models,” noting that “establishing a cooperative system involving industry, academia, research institutes, and government, as well as the active role of the political sphere, is crucial.”
Gong Gun-seung, President of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Robot Enterprise Promotion Association, remarked, “Projects subject to preliminary feasibility studies are critical tasks that determine the direction of regional industries,” adding that “specific goal setting and strategies focused on field application are necessary from the initial stages.” Kim Min-hee, President of the Yeongnam Branch of the Korea IT Women Entrepreneurs Association, also called for the establishment of a continuous cooperation system, stating, “We must use cooperation between AI-related companies and local industries as an opportunity for Daegu’s economic growth.”
During the subsequent open discussion, participants reached a consensus that securing sufficient budget, forming a stable consortium, and expanding the participation of local companies are necessary to promote the region-led AX project. It was also pointed out that technology development, workforce training, the spread of automation, and policy coordination must be carried out organically.
Attendees agreed that close cooperation and continuous communication among industry, academia, research institutes, and the government are required to strengthen the competitiveness of the AI and robot industries.
Meanwhile, the Daegyeong ICT Industry Association, the Daegyeong Robot Enterprise Promotion Association, and the Yeongnam Branch of the Korea IT Women Entrepreneurs Association agreed to engage in joint responses, such as developing policies and proposing pledges, and to promote the expansion of inter-industry exchange and collaboration.
