엑스코는 19일 서울 드래곤시티에서 한국관광공사와 경기·고양·대전·부산·서울·인천·제주 등 8개 지역 국제회의 전담조직(CVB)과 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 ‘방한 외래객 3,000만 명 달성’ 목표에 맞춰 중·대형 국제회의 공동 유치를 추진하기 위한 것이다.
참여 기관들은 공동 마케팅과 정보 교류, 행정·재정 지원 분담, 해외 유치 활동 등 전방위 협력 체계를 구축하기로 했다.
엑스코는 대구를 중심으로 2030년 세계소방총회 등 전략 국제회의 유치에 나설 계획이다. 이를 통해 2035년까지 중대형 국제회의 3건을 유치하고, 약 3,600명의 외래객 유입과 310억 원 규모의 경제적 파급 효과를 기대하고 있다.
전춘우 대표는 “전담조직 간 협력을 통해 고부가가치 국제회의를 적극 유치해 지역 경제 활성화에 기여하겠다”고 밝혔다.
다만 공동 유치 과정에서 기관 간 역할 분담과 지역 인프라 수용 능력, 유치 이후 실행력 확보 등이 향후 과제로 지적된다.

EXCO has established a nationwide cooperation framework to expand its efforts to attract international conferences.
On the 19th, EXCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Seoul Dragon City with the Korea Tourism Organization and eight regional conference promotion organizations (CVBs) representing Gyeonggi, Goyang, Daejeon, Busan, Seoul, Incheon, and Jeju.

The participating organizations agreed to establish a comprehensive cooperation system encompassing joint marketing, information exchange, shared administrative and financial support, and overseas promotion activities.
EXCO plans to focus on attracting strategic international conferences, such as the 2030 World Firefighters Congress, with Daegu as its center. Through this initiative, the company aims to secure three medium- to large-scale international conferences by 2035, expecting an influx of approximately 3,600 foreign visitors and an economic ripple effect worth 31 billion won. CEO Jeon Chun-woo stated, “We will contribute to revitalizing the local economy by actively attracting high-value-added international conferences through cooperation among dedicated organizations.”
However, future challenges identified include the division of roles among institutions during the joint bidding process, the capacity of local infrastructure, and securing implementation capabilities after the bid.
