청와대가 20일 카타르의 한국 등에 대한 액화천연가스(LNG) 공급 불가항력 선언 가능성 언급 관련해 "가스 수급엔 문제 없는 상황"이라고 밝혔다.
청와대 대변인실은 이날 오전 언론 공지를 통해 "LNG 수급 관련 카타르산 비중이 올해 기준 14% 수준으로 높지 않고 대체 수입처도 있다"며 "불확실성이 커진만큼 수급·가격을 면밀히 모니터링하며 대응 예정"이라며 이같이 전했다.
19일(현지시간) 영국 '로이터 통신'에 따르면 카타르 국영 에너지 기업 카타르에너지의 사아드 알 카아비 최고경영자는 "한국·이탈리아·벨기에·중국으로의 LNG 공급 관련 장기 계약에 대해 최대 5년간 불가항력을 선언해야 할 수도 있다"고 밝혔다.
불가항력 선언은 전쟁·자연 재해 같은 통제 불능 사태 발생 시 계약상 의무 불이행 때도 책임이 면제되는 제도다.
지난해 한국의 LNG 수입량 중 카타르산 경우 3위(14.9%)로 전체 4672만t 수입량 중 호주 1위(31.4%), 말레이시아가 2위(16.1%)를 차지하고 있다.
