[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산시가 19일 오후 시청 국제의전실에서 박형준 시장과 소라야 마르티네스 페라다 몬트리올시장의 면담을 열고 문화예술, 창의산업, 관광, 인공지능(AI) 등 다양한 분야의 협력 방안을 논의했다.
페라다 시장은 2025년 11월 취임 이후 첫 해외 순방지로 부산을 선택했으며, 몬트리올 문화예술위원회와 상공회의소 관계자를 포함한 50여 명의 대표단이 동행했다.
박 시장은 “문화와 창의산업을 통해 도시 경쟁력을 높이는 공통점을 가진 두 도시가 실질적인 교류를 확대하길 바란다”며 “문화예술, 관광마이스, 도시정책, AI 산업 등에서 협력을 추진할 것”이라고 말했다.
페라다 시장은 “부산의 따뜻한 환대에 감사하다”며 “이번 방문이 문화창의산업, 관광, 혁신 분야에서 실질적 협력으로 이어지길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
양 도시는 면담에서 세계디자인수도(WDC) 추진, 창의도시 정책, 디자인 산업 등 주요 정책과 경험을 공유했다.

몬트리올 대표단은 영화의전당과 F1963을 방문해 부산문화재단과 문화예술 교류를 위한 업무협약을 체결했으며, 20일에는 부산콘서트홀, 부산현대미술관, 감천문화마을 등을 찾아 문화·관광 콘텐츠를 둘러볼 예정이다.
부산시는 이번 방문을 계기로 두 도시가 문화예술, 관광, 도시정책 등 분야에서 협력을 강화하고, 부산의 국제도시 위상을 높이는 발판이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

=Montreal mayor visits Busan on first overseas trip since taking office; discussions cover AI, cultural exchange, and urban policy
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun met with Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada at City Hall on March 19 to discuss ways to expand cooperation in culture, creative industries, tourism, and artificial intelligence.
Ferrada, who took office in November 2025, chose Busan as her first overseas destination. She led a delegation of about 50 members, including representatives from the Montreal Arts Council, the Chamber of Commerce, and cultural and creative organizations.
Mayor Park welcomed the delegation, noting that both cities share the goal of boosting urban competitiveness through culture and creativity. He emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership in culture and the arts, tourism and MICE industries, urban policy, and AI-related advanced industries.
Ferrada expressed appreciation for Busan’s warm hospitality and said she hopes the visit will lead to tangible cooperation in cultural, tourism, and innovation sectors.
The two mayors also exchanged insights on major policies and projects, including Busan’s World Design Capital (WDC) initiative and Montreal’s creative city and design industry strategies.
During their visit, the Montreal delegation toured major cultural and urban sites, including the Busan Cinema Center and F1963, where the Busan Cultural Foundation and the Montreal Arts Council signed an MOU to promote cultural exchange. On March 20, the group is scheduled to visit Busan Concert Hall, the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan, and Gamcheon Culture Village.
Busan City said the visit is expected to deepen partnership between the two cities and reinforce Busan’s position as a global city.
