지금 국민의힘 지도부와 공관위에 묻습니다. 정말 이길 생각이 있습니까. 선거 정치는 복잡하지 않습니다. 이길 수 있는 후보를 세우고, 그 후보에 모든 것을 거는 것, 그게 전부입니다.
서울에서 그 답은 이미 나와 있습니다. 오세훈 현 서울시장 입니다. 4선 시장입니다. 네 번 시민의 선택을 받은 검증된 정치 자산입니다. 이 정도 인물을 제대로 활용하지 못한다면, 문제는 후보가 아니라 지도부와 공관위입니다. 지금 지도부와 공관위가 하는 일은 분명합니다. 이길 후보를 세우는 것이 아니라, 이길 후보를 소모시키고 있습니다. 경선 흥행을 말합니다. 그러나 경쟁력 격차가 분명한 상황에서의 경선은 흥행이 아니라 자해입니다. 내부 경쟁으로 에너지를 낭비하는 정당은 외부 경쟁에서 반드시 집니다.
문제는 여기서 끝나지 않습니다. 공천 방식 자체가 전략이 아니라 혼선이 되어버렸습니다. 장동혁 지도부와 이정현 공관위 운영은 방향이 아니라 방황에 가깝습니다. 선거가 어려울수록 원칙은 더 단순해집니다. 무명 신인이 아니라 검증된 인물, 경험 없는 정치인이 아니라 결과를 낸 행정가를 세워야 합니다. 특히 서울시장 선거는 정치 선거가 아닙니다. 행정 책임자를 뽑는 선거입니다. 유권자는 화려한 언변이 아니라 안정감을 봅니다. 행정 경험도, 정치적 축적도 부족한 초선 의원으로는 신뢰를 얻기 어렵습니다. 그래서 광역단체장 선거에는 중진 의원이 나섭니다. 그것이 현실입니다.
그런데 지금 지도부는 이 기본을 거꾸로 뒤집고 있습니다. 검증보다 신선함, 실력보다 흥행을 앞세우고 있습니다. 선거를 전략이 아니라 이벤트로 착각하고 있습니다. 상황 인식 또한 틀렸습니다. 지금은 이재명 정권 초반입니다. 밴드웨건 효과가 작동하는 시기이며, 야권 후보에게는 구조적으로 불리합니다. 수도권, 특히 서울은 스윙보터가 많은 지역입니다. 이 구도에서 무명 신인을 내세워 돌파하겠다는 발상 자체가 비현실입니다.
유권자는 지방선거에 큰 관심을 두지 않습니다. 그런 선거에서 ‘우리끼리 경선 흥행’으로 얻을 수 있는 것은 없습니다. 시간을 잃고, 후보를 소모할 뿐입니다. 지금 필요한 것은 단 하나입니다. 후보를 신속히 확정하고, 그 후보 중심으로 전열을 재편하는 것입니다. 그러나 지도부는 정반대로 움직이고 있습니다. 정당을 운영하는 것이 아니라 관리하고 있습니다. 정치는 관리가 아니라 결단입니다. 현재 당의 의사결정 구조는 심각하게 왜곡되어 있습니다. 정치의 무게를 견뎌본 경험이 부족한 지도부, 전략 훈련이 일천한 주변 인물들, 여기에 유튜브 정치와 강성 지지층, 외곽 압력이 결합되어 있습니다. 그 결과는 단순합니다. 전략이 사라졌습니다. 지금 국민의힘은 싸우고 있는 것이 아니라 흔들리고 있습니다.
이번 선거의 핵심은 분명합니다. 광역단체장, 그중에서도 서울입니다. 서울을 잃는 순간, 전체 선거는 무너집니다. 그런데도 지도부와 공관위는 절차와 균형, 경선 흥행에 매달리고 있습니다. 현실을 모르는 어리석은 판단입니다.

해법은 이미 나와 있습니다. 첫째, 서울은 오세훈 단수 공천으로 즉시 정리해야 합니다. 이것은 선택이 아니라 필수입니다. 둘째, 선거는 후보 중심으로 재편해야 합니다. 정당이 앞에 서는 선거는 집니다. 후보가 앞에 서야 이깁니다. 셋째, 자금과 조직을 서울에 집중해야 합니다. 지금은 고도의 전략적 판단으로 결단할 때입니다. 넷째, 외곽 정치와 단절해야 합니다. 유튜브와 강성 지지층에 끌려다니는 순간, 정당은 전략을 잃습니다. 한국 보수는 이미 한 번 무너졌습니다. 2017년입니다. 그때 무너진 이유는 단 하나였습니다. 현실을 외면했기 때문입니다. 지금 같은 길을 가고 있습니다. 이것은 위기가 아니라 무능입니다.

I ask the People Power Party leadership and the Nomination Committee right now: Do you truly intend to win? Election politics is not complicated. It is simply about nominating a candidate who can win and staking everything on that candidate.
In Seoul, the answer is already clear. It is the incumbent Seoul Mayor, Oh Se-hoon. He is a four-term mayor. He is a proven political asset, having been chosen by citizens four times. If a figure of this caliber cannot be properly utilized, the problem lies not with the candidate, but with the leadership and the Nomination Committee. What the leadership and the Nomination Committee are doing right now is clear. They are not nominating a winning candidate, but rather exhausting a winning candidate. They talk about generating excitement for the primary. However, holding a primary in a situation where the gap in competitiveness is clear is not excitement, but self-harm. A party that wastes energy on internal competition is bound to lose in external competition.
The problem does not end here. The nomination process itself has become confusion rather than strategy. The management of the nomination committee by Jang Dong-hyuk’s leadership and Lee Jung-hyun’s is akin to wandering rather than finding a direction. The more difficult the election, the simpler the principles become. We must nominate proven figures, not unknown newcomers; we must nominate administrators who have produced results, not inexperienced politicians. In particular, the Seoul mayoral election is not a political election; it is an election to choose an administrative leader. Voters look for stability, not flashy rhetoric. It is difficult to gain trust from first-term lawmakers who lack both administrative experience and political accumulation. That is why veteran lawmakers step forward in metropolitan mayoral elections. That is the reality.
However, the current leadership is turning these fundamentals upside down. They are prioritizing freshness over verification and hype over competence. They are mistaking the election for an event rather than a strategy. Their perception of the situation is also incorrect. We are currently in the early stages of the Lee Jae-myung administration. It is a time when the bandwagon effect is at play, and it is structurally disadvantageous for opposition candidates. The metropolitan area, especially Seoul, is a region with many swing voters. The very notion of trying to break through this landscape by fielding an unknown newcomer is unrealistic.
Voters do not pay much attention to local elections. In an election like this, nothing can be gained from "generating excitement for the primary among ourselves." It merely wastes time and exhausts the candidates. What is needed right now is only one thing: to swiftly finalize the candidate and reorganize the ranks around them. However, the leadership is moving in the exact opposite direction. They are managing the party rather than operating it. Politics is about decisive action, not management. The party's current decision-making structure is severely distorted. It is a combination of a leadership lacking experience in bearing the weight of politics, peripheral figures with meager strategic training, YouTube politics, a hardline support base, and external pressure. The result is simple: strategy has disappeared. The People Power Party is not fighting; it is wavering.
The core of this election is clear. It is the heads of metropolitan governments, and specifically Seoul. The moment Seoul is lost, the entire election collapses. Yet, the leadership and the Nomination Committee are clinging to procedures, balance, and generating excitement for the primary. This is a foolish judgment that ignores reality.
The solution is already there. First, Seoul must be settled immediately with the sole nomination of Oh Se-hoon. This is not a choice, but a necessity. Second, the election must be reorganized around the candidates. Elections where the party stands at the forefront are lost. Only when the candidate stands at the forefront can we win. Third, funding and organization must be concentrated in Seoul. Now is the time for decisive action based on highly strategic judgment. Fourth, we must sever ties with peripheral politics. The moment a party is swayed by YouTube and hardline supporters, it loses its strategy. Korean conservatism has already collapsed once. That was in 2017. There was only one reason for that collapse: it turned a blind eye to reality. We are currently treading the same path. This is not a crisis; it is incompetence.
