더불어민주당이 오는 6월 지방선거를 앞두고 대전과 충남 지역의 광역단체장 후보 결정을 위한 경선 체제에 돌입했다.
대전시장 자리를 놓고는 장종태 전 서구청장, 장철민 국회의원, 허태정 전 대전시장이 본선행 티켓을 거머쥐기 위한 치열한 3파전을 벌인다. 전직 구청장과 현직 국회의원, 그리고 재선을 노리는 전임 시장 간의 대결인 만큼 당내에서도 초박빙의 승부가 예상된다.
충남지사 경선 역시 중량감 있는 인사들이 맞붙는다.
