경주시는 3월 23일부터 카카오페이를 통한 간편결제 서비스를 도입한다고 밝혔다. 이에 따라 이용자는 기존 KB페이에 더해 카카오페이를 통한 모바일 결제가 가능해졌다.
카카오페이에 경주페이를 등록하면 가맹점에서 QR코드 또는 바코드를 스캔하거나 제시하는 방식으로 간편하게 결제할 수 있다. 특히 그동안 중단됐던 삼성페이 기반 모바일 결제 역시 카카오페이 연동을 통해 사실상 대체 이용이 가능해졌다.
이번 서비스 도입으로 이용자는 별도의 지갑 없이 스마트폰만으로 결제가 가능해져 편의성이 한층 높아질 전망이다.
등록 방법은 카카오페이 앱 내 ‘결제수단 관리’ 메뉴에서 ‘카드 등록하기’를 선택하면 되며, 다만 매장 방문 결제에 한해 사용 가능하고 온라인 결제는 지원되지 않는다.
경주시는 이번 조치를 통해 지역화폐 이용 활성화와 함께 시민들의 결제 선택권이 확대될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
이동수 경주시 경제산업국장은 “모바일 중심 소비 환경 변화에 대응해 보다 편리한 결제 환경을 구축했다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 결제 수단 도입을 통해 이용 편의를 지속적으로 개선해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
